The rugby world cup begins tomorrow!

Sadly not. I tried so hard to get tickets, but we all had a mare. The ticketing website was shocking. I found out from a mate who was part of the team that provided the payament software that they did zero load testing!

Rant over, it was probably for the best.

I agree it looks on paper to be the sprinboks v france but the AB are all about the world cup. They could easily come good. Tomorrow should be an interesting bell weather match.
Like you, I struggled with the website and then could only buy tickets for ridiculous prices. I was looking in travel agents and E.Leclerc Espace Culturel section whilst I was over there this summer but none of them had anything to offer.

Tomorrow's game should be a cracker and hopefully lay down the blueprint for what is to come.

I also agree with Nero, that the England side of the draw is the easiest.

We’re shocking aren’t we.

Hopefully it’s a blip snd we’ll switch on them it matters but I’m not sure.
Shocking is the word. They have been for quite some time too. Everything about their game is poor. Skills, defence, discipline, attack. It just isn’t there and I fear for them against a fired up Argentina.

The baffling thing is 16 of the 33 player squad got to the final last time. They beat Argentina, Australia and New Zealand in successive weeks. The performance has dropped off a Cliff since beating the All Blacks and never recovered consistently.

It's hard to see a postive at the moment.

We have a bunch of sarries players who seemingly have forgotten how to tackle. We have filled the back line with lumpen journeyman and very little creativity, we have no number 8, our captain is suspended and there is talk of them playing the mercurial Smith at fullback, a place he's hardly ever played. I think I can remember him doing ten minutes there for quins once and that's it.

Off to Marseille in the morning, really looking forward to the trip, if not the England match! Think it will be a tough game but, and it's a big but, if we get the result there and one next week in Nice then we are in with a real shout of getting to the semis.

He did 27 minutes against Fiji and scored!

I hope you enjoy the occasion and the rugby for a change!

It is all part of the RFU's rope-s-dope master plan - ugly ducklings to swans in 6 weeks.

As someone who only follows Union at International level if at all, I am fairly neutral as I usually have little affinity with the English Rugby team. Growing up always liked the Welsh with their working class valley routes and more recently have had an affinity with those who came from Rugby League, so England to some extent, but also Ireland as Farrell was a league legend. Rugby's the only game where we seem to take pride in our hemisphere, so would like to see a Northern team triumph instead of New Zealand, South Africa or the Aussies. Wouldn't be surprised to see home advantage work for the French, but wouldn't be surprised to see England either bomb out in the group stage or turn round recent form and make the final!

Kyle Sinckler injured or something?

I’m glad to see Daly back where he has played his best rugby for England.

He's a ball playing front row. We don't even want ball playing back so our front row must be completely empty of flair!

Kind of agree with you on Daly but I don't mind seeing him at FB either. His siege cannon kicks from deep should certainy help given we are set up to play that way.

It does show the England limited game plan. I’m very surprised Sinckler isn’t at least on the bench.

Daly at full back is good too and his kicking range might be a factor in sneaking a win.

SB loves Dan Cole who to be fair had never let England down in the past but does seem a little slower these days. There is possibly some logic in playing your strongest scrummagers as starters against Argentina but then surely if that is the case for not playing Sinckler, you start Marler instead of Genge so guess that isn't the reason, other than that I think the team is about the best that can have been expected from Borthwick

Its a sandwich mixte (ham and cheese) but Sandwich jambon.

As for that England team Interesting that he’s selected 2 players to start who didn’t even make the original cut.
At least they will go through 4 phases before kicking it away this time.

Wish they'd make Courtney Lawes team captain.
