Akpom is the number one striker at the club.
Akpom played almost every single game under Carrick as a number 10, or at best as a second striker.
He's not our main striker.

Come on, Chuba Akpom is the No1 striker at the club. Just like Harry Kane is the No1 striker at Tottenham and for England.Akpom played almost every single game under Carrick as a number 10, or at best as a second striker.

Kane plays as deep for Spurs - and often for England - as Chuba does for Boro. Just because they’re playing deeper doesn’t mean they are not strikers. They are both strikers who have the quality to do other things for the team as well.Harry Kane plays as the striker for both Tottenham and England.
Akpom didn't play as a striker for Carrick.
In his own words:
"Whereas here, I've been told specifically that I should play No.10 and the gaffer has made me feel confident, so I'm glad I'm playing there and showing my strengths."
We've got Crooks playing in Akpom's position whilst he's injured.
We have Rogers filling in as our striker after so far failing to bring in a replacement for Cameron Archer, who was our number 1 striker under Carrick.
Speak for yourself. For me the jury is well and truly out about Scott.People trusted our recruitment until about two weeks ago because it’s demonstrably improved over the past 12-18 months, perhaps longer. The players who’ve come in are better than what’s gone out, at a better age as well. There is a clear pattern to our permanent signings.
Again, though, you have to give credit where it’s due surely. How have we gone from 17th to 10th to 7th to 4th in successive seasons if nobody knows what they’re doing?Speak for yourself. For me the jury is well and truly out about Scott.
The signings under Scott prior to this summer for money have been Boyd Munce (gone), McGree, Forss, Hoppe, Clarke, Barlaser.
Only Forss represents a really good buy to me, though I accept McGree has his fans.
The Frees were Smith, Roberts (already gone) and Lenihan.
Lenihan has worked out well.
Tavernier is miles better than McGree.
This is his 4th window.
The 2 loans in January were excellent, but how much of their presence was down to Danks?
I reiterate that the window could still see quality flood in and I know it is difficult as a Championship club.
But let's not say that we are in a good place just now.
I'm not presuming the worst all the time at all.Again, though, you have to give credit where it’s due surely. How have we gone from 17th to 10th to 7th to 4th in successive seasons if nobody knows what they’re doing?
The recruitment of Carrick and his staff was a success. We have added some good players over the past 12-18 months. We’ve had four really good players on loan last season. Fry, Hackney and Coburn on new deals. We’ve gone from the nowhere to the playoffs without the advantage of parachute payments.
Surely you can’t just dismiss Scott’s role in anything good just because you nailed your colours to the mast early? Danks did the Villa deals, someone else did Carrick, Wilder got Lenihan… but Scott definitely signed Hoppe. I just don’t think it works like that. He’s not even signing or identifying them is he? Isn’t he just putting the staff in place and overseeing it.
How are you judging success since Scott took the recruitment department on? Because we’ve gone from mid-table to 7th to 4th on his watch. So surely there’s something going on there. It can’t just be someone else doing the good stuff. And if it is, well who hired them in the first place.
And there is also a presumption that Carrick isn’t involved in the process of acquiring these players. Maybe he is happy to go with Rogers. It’s his job to know what the team needs. He will want quality players just like every other coach or manager but let’s just not presume the worst all the time.
Steffen - successI'm not presuming the worst all the time at all.
I posted that the jury is out for me with Scott. I am not however impressed so far and thought his record underwhelming at Norwich
I'm not a big fan of anybody we have signed for a fee other than Forss. Lenihan was a good free signing undoubtedly.
The January loans were terrific.
Carrick and Danks are the factors for me that have transformed us recently.
I don't for a minute think Scott targeted Carrick. I think Gibson had Carrick recommended to him and made it happen.
I am not dug in looking for reasons to criticise Scott.
Warnock took us to 17th then 10th bemoaning recruitment some pre Scott.
Wilder took us to 7th bemoaning recruitment.
Carrick took us to 4th on the back of his coaching/leadership and two brilliant January loans.
