The Madeleine McCann case: “major breakthrough”

The point is, the only real blame in this case should only be towards the person who abducted and murdered her.

The presumption is that Madeleine was abducted however as far as I’m aware there is no definitive proof of that being the case, perhaps she simply woke up became frightened, left the apartment looking for her parents, became lost and had a tragic accident, which is a possibility.

I get your stance I do, it’s likely if the mccanns had acted differently there would have been a different victim

Still doesn’t distract from what I would call neglect

British detectives have had to undertake extensive works which the incompetent Portugal plods should have done but have failed to do and they have generally made a huge balls up of the investigation on their own patch. That investigative work will have accounted for some of the substantial costs so far, the Portuguese police could have avoided the need for that.

The Portuguese police also stomped all over the crime scene on the night Madeleine disappeared - up to 70 of them - thereby destroying any evidence at the scene. They were guilty of many other acts of incompetence over the Madeleine case and when challenged went off in a sulk. This guy may have been nicked much sooner if they hadn’t done all that as well, saving much of the money it’s cost UK taxpayers so far.

Even tonight it is being reported that while the British police and the German Polizei are working closely, urgently and continuously on building a case and trying to trace Christian’B’s contacts who might be able to provide evidence the Portuguese plods are strangely quiet and appear to be making little effort.

Reportedly the British and German police have been quite sure of Christian B for a couple of years but they couldn’t go public on it before because of a lack of concrete evidence which is why they kept going back for more funding because they were so close. Let’s hope this pays off.

If nailing the bloke who abducted Madeleine saves more little children’s lives in the future that £12million will be money well spent.

Do people actually sedate their kids?
I've has plenty of rough nights with my kids when they either refuse to sleep or wake up in the middle of the night and won't back to sleep. The thought of sedating my kids has never crossed my mind as that is utterly bonkers

Yes, “some” people do do that - I could (but obviously not going to) give you a couple of examples that I’ve come across (indirectly) in the course of my work.

In both cases, one of the parents was the same profession as the McCanns

Still implying the kids maybe were given drugs?

Jury service may not be for you then.

Tradgically. The organisation "Missing Persons" claims over 140,000 people go "missing" every year.
That puts the whole Mcann scenario into perspective.

That is absolutely staggering. I could never.

Its been 13 years. The technology existed to trace every phone call made in that area in the hours around the incident. As it appears that they have now done so.
How long would it have taken to match those numbers with any known convicted child sex offenders.? Probably minutes.
If you have a convicted sex offender placed at the scene of the crime its a massive indication hes your man.
Of course if the police had not bungled the sealing off of the bedroom there would have been DNA evidence to link.
Lots of parallels to the Sutcliffe case who was only found by accident after massive police incompetence, and vanity in the Sutcliffe case.

If that were true there would almost certainly be a body
