Really good episode, story has moved on with pace
Yeah I would agree with that. A feeling of helplessness as well as with such a force coming out there isn't a lot you can do about it. I think that's where a lot of traditional "zombie" stuff falls down as they're only really a threat if you are surprised, surrounded or cornered, else you can just walk offI was thinking about this thread after watching ep5.
I feel like the relative lack of zombies in 3 and 4 made it all the more startling and scary when the zombies did come piling out the ground in this one.
Half way through this latest episode I was expecting to be posting saying I might give up on this as it was all very slow again and I am struggling to really invest in the characters in a big way. But the second half of the episode was very good I thought and a lot of stuff is starting to make more sense. I am over halfway through the series now so I’ll definitely finish it, would hope there’ll be some very exciting stuff to come in the last few episodes of this season.
I’m gonna stick my neck out (again) though and say that I still haven’t really understood the relevance or the brilliance of episode 3, even with hindsight.
Without frank you tess and Joel don’t meet bill
Without frank bill doesn’t fall in love
With falling in love bill doesn’t do his romantic suicide
Without the romantic suicide the car key isn’t given
Without the car key Joel finds it harder to go across the country
It gives context to the story as a whole
Not in 28 Days Later, or World War Z. I wouldn’t say fast zombies are a new concept, I think the mushroom stuff over their eyes is like.Yeah I would agree with that. 28 days later and world war Z are from 2002 and 2013 (same year last of us came out) and in terms of zombies are relatively yesterday for a genre that predates even the first surviving material, White Zombie (1932) and featured in a play over 100 years ago. World War Z best forgotten for how badly it craps all over the source material. Zombie and post apocalyptic stuff is my favourite genre. Plenty of examples of zombies being fast well before those movies - Nightmare City/City of the walking dead from 1980, even Night of the Living Dead in 1968 had zombies moving quickly and even using tools. Not in 28 Days Later, or World War Z. I wouldn’t say fast zombies are a new concept, I think the mushroom stuff over their eyes is like.
So there’s clickers, there’s bloaters, are there any other types? Is there a “standard” infected, and how do you progress to clicker or bloater?
Fair enough. I assume you become a clicker then a bloater afterwards.Time.
The longer they're infected, the more the fungus takes hold.
The clickers and bloaters have been infected for significantly longer than the standard infected, which are the majority of those we see.
