The Jubilee

Indeed. It usually makes one the opposite. Which is why it’s hilarious to watch the loony studo left on here whip themselves up into swivel eyed frenzy over it.

They’ll need new dentures after all the teeth-grinding next week :D
🇬🇧
It's a strange interpretation of a frenzy.

Thankfully there are no street parties planned where I live. The neighbouring town has a regular carnival next weekend, but that's unconnected to Brenda. I'm lucky to live in a nice street in a nice area, where there are great neighbours and a real sense of community. They just all see the upcoming flag-shagging fest for what it is.

Haven't you heard. You aren't allowed to be proud to be British anymore. Especially if you are white, middle aged, have a wife and two kids and a steady job.

My kids are celebrating the jubilee at school today with a non uniform day, encouraged to dress in white, blue or red or a mix of all three.
The village is holding two events next weekend, Saturday is a mini summer fete and Sunday people are invited to bring a picnic or sample food from a multitude of different businesses (including the one I work for) whilst catching up with friends and family.
Come on that's like a Daily Mail cut and paste, absolute rubbish

"Being"

I assumed nothing. I saw you response to an anti monarchy post with you saying they weren't proud to be British. No assumption was made. It was a direct reaction to what you said
Can you please explain to me and the rest of the board, which part of being British are you proud of?

And 2 sides to the debate:

what a rediculous article. "Tourism" is often spouted out, but other than the odd key event like a wedding, the tourists come here to see buildings and history, they don't come to meet Liz, Charles and Andrew...especially Andrew.

To claim that the royals create tourist revenue has never ever been proven, it's a fallacious argument. But one that some people will always fall for

No wonder this country is fcuked. If you had your way we'd all still be serfs.
What are you on about? I'm not for or against the monarchy system. I don't spend much, if any time thinking about them. To me they are just another family who happen to have more money than me. Spoiler alert, they aren't the only family with more money than me.

I've just done my bit. Just had a Jubilee muffin from Costa. Although nothing celebratory about £6.20 for it with a capacinio.

It was basically a muffin in union jack paper. I think the splodge on top was a crown. Although not convinced😂

Having been on this planet for 60 years, the answer is yes. Been through the shoite but hey lets whinge about it.
you prefer to stay quiet about the erosion of our democracy and rights and the transfer of wealth to the elites, and know your place?? Because anything else is just erm a 'whinge'? I don't think it's your place to silence anyone that wants a 'whinge', or belittle their opinion, either address the points made in the opinion or 'move to north korea' where people like us don't have the rights to our non-conformist opinions, where free thinking is frowned on, where flagshagging and deference to the head of state is compulsory

Why? Look all around social media. It's almost against the law to be a straight, white, middle aged man these days. I keep myself to myself, look after my family, look out for my friends and work hard every day for a sense of belonging, achievement and god forbid I actually enjoy work. But no, I'm reminded daily I should apologize for slavery 100's of years ago, I shouldn't talk to women for fear of been accused of been a sex pest, if I don't vote labour I'm a Tory (figure the one out 🤔), I'm killing the planet because I like a steak or a hot shower and I drive a petrol car instead of taking a bus.

”your response” or “you respond”. Not “you response”.

If you are going to sneer at and belittle posters for typographical or grammatical errors then make sure you don‘t make any yourself.

Another example of your ill founded sense of superiority and smugness that makes you such a disliked poster.

Oh, and a full stop at the end of your last sentence.

So you've got nothing to contribute to the thread except insulting another poster? Classy. You stay classy

Well said. The plight of the middle aged straight white man does not get enough coverage!
