The Friday drink and dance!

Afternoon all, hope you've had a great week and looking forward to a (hopefully) splendid display tomorrow and another 3 points for the Boro! The response to the Hull game has been remarkable and we've deservedly taken 9 points out of 9, or 12 out of 15 if we go back a little further. Momentum is huge in football and let's hope that after struggling to get back to back wins for large parts of the last few seasons that we can go on a fantastic winning streak.

I'll not be drinking today as I'm on a two week hiatus before heading up to sunny Eyemouth next weekend for a trip away with friends to celebrate a 50th birthday, but one drink that did come to market relatively recently I believe is the rather lovely Tetley's No. 4. I discovered it a couple of months back and whilst I'm not a massive lager drinker I found it to be quite palatable and easy to drink. As lagers go I'd give it a solid 4/5.

As far as the music goes it's been a frustrating week at work, one of those where things go wrong at every opportunity (not to mention it's half term and my 9 year old daughter is self-isolating having picked up Covid for the 2nd time - thankfully very little in way of symptoms other than a mild cough) so today is Friday, and it's a great feeling knowing I'll be turning off my PC in a couple of hours and the weekend starts then. That being the case I thought I would start with this cracker from the 80s....

Happy Friday and have a great weekend ladies and gents 🍻🍻

Think you'll find that that particular song is from the nineties mate. I wouldn't normally pull you up on something like that but I went to see The Cure that year at The Mayfair on a warm up date for the 'Wish' tour. Have yourself a good weekend fella.

And on the subject of 'Friday' songs. Who could forget this classic?

I stand corrected, and you're absolutely right bumface. I could have sworn blind it was from the 80s but I'm perhaps not as old as I thought!! Great song and great band too.

Longest gig that I've ever attended. Even their encore went on for over an hour. No support act either but they played for three hours straight so we missed the last train back to Teesside. They were brilliant though so it was worth all of the hassle of having to phone around to beg someone to drive to Newcastle at midnight and pick us up.

They were absolutely brilliant at Glastonbury in 2019. One of the best headliners I’ve seen there Infact. Robert Smith still has that incredible stage presence.

Me usual Sauvignon blanc, been walking in the lakes all day last couple of days and next two, usual six mile walks turning into ten mile trecks to get round the floods. Good though.

As for music, this old favourite, anyone who plays guitar and can get away with a looper will like this.

Apparently someone dropped out of the show and she got a call at three in the afternoon, dropped everything and threw her gear in the car. When she saw it later she was like 🙈🙈 forgot to get changed 😂

Bumface has just opened his first Friday night can of supermarket own brand brown booze. Doesn't really taste of much. Goes well with the cigs though. Listening to a bit of Dressy Bessy at the moment. Enjoy your evening chaps:

Drinking a Cabernet Sauvignon from
aldi.

There was a post earlier in the week about Robson and Jerome and someone called this a lazy cover version on the premise it kept fairytale of New York off the xmas No 1.

Unbeknown to anyone on here I’m the worlds biggest PSB fan, and they are still making music 35 years on, so just a warning if anyone else slags them off I’ll just post their entire back catalogue (just the 14 studio albums….)

Enjoy !!

Love PSB. I wouldn't call myself a fan but have never heard a bad tune from them.

I always regret missing PSB when they played Boro ages ago (might even have been the Poly?). Still great to hear after all these years.

No problem from me with PSB, looking forward to Manchester next May for the rearranged gig 👍
Just a Guinness tonight as driving early in the morning. I’ve just finished reading Johnny Marrs autobiography and thinking back about his collaboration with Bernard Sumner with Electronic, it eventually led me here. Enjoy.

Yes I know they played teesside uni.
Living in cambs I know they also played Cambridge corn exchange on that tour but it had sold out by the time I knew about it, was the infancy of the internet.
That is the only show of there’s i have missed. Apart from the one just after Neil Tennant came out and they went to South America to go all soft porn with the male dancers…still I’ve seen the DVD….😂
