*The earlier-than-usual unofficial "Official" Coventry v Boro Matchday thread*

Disappointed.
We have enough in this squad to have won this.
Tav and Dijksteel especially poor.
Poor finishing up front as well. We had enough chances.
But it was a good game despite all that.
I enjoyed my afternoon off work still.
And I think they will get it working eventually.
Hope Paddy's injury isn't too bad.
Expecting better on Wednesday.

We are a team that is hoping that if we make enough changes to the squad and formation each game, eventually we will hit a winning formula.

Still waiting.
It's called 'Monking'. People who are really good at it use a spinning dart board to select strikers to sign and to pick a fee to offer.

I agree the squad is significantly better than last seasons and NW does need time to make it come together, but with that the expectations are higher now too.
I don't think the recruitment is what Warnock would have wanted but it's been imposed on him. We have bought good skillful players but I get the impression he would have rather have seasoned championship battlers. Its almost as if NW has been forced to pick a team and play a different way to the style he would like purely because of the recruitment. Theres some real quality in this squad so as bad as we have started this season I am not too disheartened

Bit unlucky not to score at crucial times but not looking promising results wise. Pressure on wanock in next 4 matches else we'll be cast adrift from top 6 for sure

McNair and Dijksteel could do it. Fry in the middle.
I'd settle for a well drilled pairing that compliment each other, a good talker and organiser who'll chip in with headers at set pieces and a young up and coming strapping lad with nice feet who can play it out from the back a bit.

This is not a warnock side these new lads aren’t his type of players.

need to move on and get an
Upcoming manager innot a sacked ex pro either but an up and coming manager.

Me neither. I'm fairly optimistic that with a bit of work we've got a decent, and more importantly quite exciting, team to watch.

I think you can be 'a bit unlucky' not to score in the occasional match, but it is much deeper set within the squad than that for me.

Hopefully the new attacking players can start showing what they can do. But I've pretty much run out of faith that Warnock can get us scoring more regularly.

You can dress things up however you want, but the facts are:
1. That is an extremely poor result today.
2. We have now made a dreadful start to the season.

I have no idea what formation he wants to play, or what his idea of his first team is.

It is of course very early days and we are only 7 points off the top two, but Warnock is going to have to pull his finger out.
Playing a back three to accommodate McNair because he can't hold his own in a back 4 is not good.
Losing McNair pre match yet still keeping a back 5 is indicative of how little confidence he has in any two playing together and how exposed we are at LB without Bola.
Dijksteel as wing back is never ever going to work.
Putting Jones (our most dangerous attacking player so far) at wing back is a massive waste.

If we had come away with a win he would be entitled to stick the middle finger up, even a point.
But he got done 2-0 and gets no sympathy I'm afraid.
He asked earlier if Rob wanted to pick the team. Maybe he should have.

Good point
We just seem to be slower than other teams and struggle to score goals under NW
Wednesday night is crucial now

Warnock needs to go
I've been leaning that way for a while. People say how good he is at getting promotions but is it 1 in about 12 years? He's had more failures /sackings than promotions recently.

His philosophy is make the game simple, no complex tactics. Man-for-man, get stuck in, win your battles, get it forward quickly and you'll win more than you lose.

Well 20 years ago when the championship wasn't very technical or tactical, that was probably true. Whenever he got promoted to the prem, a higher quality league he ended up sacked, in fact he never completed a prem season. Well now the championship is generally as technical and tactical as the premier league was in the mid 90s and he struggles.

Nice guy, a character, but he just isn't what we need to move forward. I have no confidence that he will get the best out some very decent technical players.

The team was scrappy today. Too many players were making silly mistakes all over the pitch.

We looked good going forward in parts but were just soo untidy when it mattered.
