So tinker with detail round the edges then. You don’t see other clubs chop and change iconic and instantly recognisable strip designs.Boro used to say that when they sold shirts with white chest band 2 seasons in a row that sales dropped massively the 2nd season.
For me our worst home strips 1998-99, 1999-2000 & 2015-15 were awful & as a collector I refused to buy them because, well basically, what did they have to do with any of our home shirts, truly awful, but I had to bite the bullet & have since aquired to of those 3, how come they go from excellent, to nice, to fine to horrificSo tinker with detail round the edges then. As a side point, in these days of ‘product branding’ (excuse me while I vomit) then we absolutely should utilise an instantly recognisable USP to build the brand’ (sorry, I’m going to vomit again).
El Guapo, it certainly is, all about opinions & choice, but yes one thing most of us agree with is keeping the white chest bandI guess it’s all subjective but we have had some stinkers. All the more reason to stick to the white band/hoop and blue/black stripes etc.
Fair enough Rob, but who designed the one when we went in to the PL an 8 year old kid, that was absoutly awfulThat is the point - they used to say that when they tinkered with the design - the numbers of buyers dropped considerably. That number would only go up when there was a very different design or different manufacturer etc.
Would be a double wow, minus those ribbons thoughCan imagine a white band with the current badge in the middle
Do Juventus change their black and white stripes, or Inter their blue/black? Or do Ajax change their single wide red stripe? Or Boca juniors their orange chest band or River Plate their red sash? Celtic their green/white hoops? No. Are they all instantly recognisable? Yes. Can you identify a fleetwood town top in an instant? No.That is the point - they used to say that when they tinkered with the design - the numbers of buyers dropped considerably. I know not everyone likes this shirt but it's the first Boro shirt I ever owned, so I have soft spot for it. Top of my shirt wish list would be the reverse white/red version that was only ever worn on a couple of occasions and wasn't available to buy.
Great shirt, I still remember stood in the Holgate when John Neals Boro ran out v Liverpool & thought wow, great shirt
