The board is a depressing place currently…

Depressed no, disappointed yes. Losing to Sunderland at home while perhaps not unexpected we played fairly well until Giles lets us down with another awful OWN GOAL. This may take a good display and win at Sheffield Utd for the disappointment to subside.

Behave, there was absolutely nothing that Ryan Giles could have done to prevent that.

I swear that some of our 'fans' have never watched a football match before.

I do seem to recall him scoring another "good" own goal for us in his first stint.

You will always get differening levels of extremity on pretty much any topic you choose to discuss. That’s just life.

Some people will have had higher expectations for this season than others and will therefore react to our current situation in what is seen by others to be more extreme.

From my perspective, I think we are under achieving this season. The fact that we are only 1 point off the playoffs is by pure luck that the division (outside the top 4) is just as inconsistent as we are. However, I am pretty confident that by the time we line up to play Watford then there will be a gap forming between us and the top 6, which is really disappointing.

The other thing that I think could be causing the frustration is the manner in which we are dropping points and losing games. At times it’s just absolutely ridiculous watching us concede goals and drop points in the way that we do. If it happens once or twice, fine. However, when you rack up as many unbelievably stupid errors as we have made then you are bound to become frustrated.

I would give Carrick to the end of the season to see if he can turn us around, he deserves that chance in my opinion. However I can’t really see us making the playoffs as it stands and I think we will continue to drop like a stone and maybe end up about 9th or 10th. I think that because I think this team has lost its fight and has pretty much had the stuffing knocked out of it and I don’t see our coaching team rebuilding that unfortunately.

That does sound depressing, indeed. But it’s calling it as I see it really.

All this talk of us deserving to be higher up the league than we are. It sounds entitled.

Normally I wouldn't feel that way, but this season we've thrown away an unbelievable number of points and gifted goals to all and sundry to constantly thwart our own ambitions. We could be considerably higher in the table if we didn't suffer continual brainfarts.

And I don't even want us to go up anyway...

An ‘awful’ own goal?
He tried to get out of the way and it hit him and went in
Bitter disappointment but, no blame from me

With the level of investment, ticket prices and calibre of some of our players we SHOULD be higher up in the league. It’s not entitled fans having a strop. It’s perfectly natural reaction, even the manager himself is not happy with the current situation.

Blackburn have done a tremendous job so far this season. Their budget will be nowhere near ours, yet they have beaten us at home in the league and knocked us out of the cup, also at home. And sit above us in the league

What is the major difference between the teams?
If we draw our game in hand we will be above Blackburn, despite them drawing at our place with a blatant offside equaliser.
I don’t think that they have had the same level of injuries that we have had either.
I am sure that we will finish well above Blackburn at the end of the season.

Our game in hand is Sheff Utd away (haven’t got a chance of a point - emoji)
We do have to go to Blackburn tho

We may well, but too my eye they are getting more out of their squad

I’d suggest you watch it again. It’s bad positioning and an even worse reaction. He’s got eyes on it all the way.

The criminality though is Ayling getting absolutely skinned again.

If Smith hadn’t just retired, that may have seen the end of Ayling too.

Blackburn I've seen them twice and they have bored the **** off me,we might be crap at defending but we are never boring.

I just thought it was a brilliant touch from Le Fee. Not many right backs would have got a block in there. Giles was massively unfortunate but that's how our season has been so far

Of course he tried to get out of the way. He’d likely be sacked on the spot, and probably investigated for some kind of betting fraud if he had done it on purpose. Own goals are by definition a **** up. But they are still the ultimate example of bad defending, not some act of God.
