The board is a depressing place currently…

So much Carrick out talk. We sound like Mackems or Geordies. All this talk of us deserving to be higher up the league than we are. It sounds entitled.

We are Boro. We aren’t loaded. Yeah it would be nice to be promoted but it’s also nice to be financially secure and still in the mix.

Maybe we should judge Carrick at the end of the season. And maybe we shouldn’t be spending all our energy wishing him away so we can jump on the next manager merry-go-round. Jesus, what if we get another Monk? Or some other plank who signs a load of duds and we end up 16th or something daft.

The grass isn’t always greener. Losing ever week in the Prem might not be as much fun as some think it would be. Saying that it is apparent that sitting just outside the playoffs with some new signings to come in isn’t fun for some either.

The last couple of months of the season is going to be a rollercoaster - just enjoy it lads. If we get in the playoffs then we can dream… don’t write us off just yet!!!

Sacking Carrick would be madness.

I remain confident he’s the man to take us forward. In fact I still think we’ll go up this season. We’ll get 6th, hit form at just the right time and win the playoffs 👍

I agree we'll get into the play offs but I don't think we'll go up. This recent video about the play offs race makes some good points and shows that it's a myth that those who go on a late charge into the play offs get promoted. It's usually 3rd or 4th, the ones who just miss out on automatic promotion.

Pretty sure Nano made that very point the other day.

Every rule has its exceptions 🙂👍

Yeah - how dare fans expect better performances when they’re paying more than 90% of teams in the country.

What spoiled brats.

The board is largely divided at the moment with those who think our squad is top 2 and those who think it's an also ran squad.

I haven't heard a single argument to support that we have a top 2 squad. The usual argument is the cost. Even if you ignore net spend, which many do, we haven't spent nearly as much as 3 of the teams above us.

Carrick has had his prize assets stripped in the list 2 Jan transfer windows. Whether it's financially correct doesn't change the fact that it isn't ideal.

I reckon the three of us still have something in common in this regard. We all tend to assume that we should be easily better than < insert any team from a town here that is now bigger, more prosperous, and more attractive to outside investors than we are> because we had a better team than they did before the Great War. Although at least in the case of our two neighbours up the road that chippiness comes on the back of a few league titles rather than one third place finish.

Fact is, Sunderland and Middlesbrough are places left behind by economic events that are in competition with, and have no reason to assume they should have a better team than, a Brighton or a Bournemouth, or probably even a Colchester or Chelmsford. Even Newcastle had probably found their level until the Saudi money came along. There are many more larger towns below than smaller towns above us.

With the level of investment, ticket prices and calibre of some of our players we SHOULD be higher up in the league. It’s not entitled fans having a strop. It’s perfectly natural reaction, even the manager himself is not happy with the current situation.

Blackburn have done a tremendous job so far this season. Their budget will be nowhere near ours, yet they have beaten us at home in the league and knocked us out of the cup, also at home. And sit above us in the league

What is the major difference between the teams?
