The Attitude of admin…..

He's questioning the attitude and lack of communication as much as the decision surely?
there was nothing 'ironic' about the title in the context of the thread - the poster should question his own attitude and communication skills - the decision by admin was a correct one.

i looked at the post and the content therein - there was 101 titles the poster could have used in relation to the tales being told, he has said as much repeatedly since, right down to giving an example of what words and title he could have used, he didnt do that without some thought - but he chose not to.

as i said in a previous thread - its all 'banter', 'Irony' & 'british humour' after its called out - get off admins back, your showing a complete lack of understanding - FMTTM is a global entity - abusing Admin is equivalent to shooting fish in a barrel and claiming your a good angler.

With respect roofie, if you are going to post on a thread then it's best to read what has previously been said.
Im taking into account all thats been posted.
There is much derogatory said on this thread.
A lot of unfounded accusations and disrespect for the Administrators.
I suggest you take a look at the whole thread.
Thanks for the advice. (y)

Maybe a quick title edit or a warning to the OP to edit it or it’s going would have been better than removing what was a genuinely interesting and engaging thread - this is assuming it was the title and not something else.

I don’t mean to sound critical of admin who I’m sure have a lot to get through, but it’s those type of threads that I personally look to engage with above certain other topics which is why I’m specifically commenting here.

'jobsworth'. See, if I was seeking to positively influence the actions of admin, I wouldn't have chosen that word.
And tbh it's unlikely I would have enjoyed a thread with that title, so can't really relate to the concept of being unhappy at it being pulled. But if I was enjoying it and it was pulled, I imagine I'd just think 'oh well' and move on with my day. I wouldn't start a whole new one purely to question the decision.

I'd be perfectly happy using a phrase like Johnny foreigner. I don't think it's ever been seen as particularly offensive and is always used in an ironic way nowadays. People have different senses of humour though.

I would agree with this. I guess that's the line admin have to tread though. What some people find offensive others don't.

The phrase that seems to have caused concern is one I have looked up in various online dictionaries. Most, but certainly not all that I looked up include the word derogatory in its description in fairness. The OP has I think explained his reasoning and meant no insult or offence intended, i am sure. I see no reason to doubt that, it is a common casual term more often used in jest than offence, or so i thought, but in my personal ignorance, I did not see it as derogatory till i looked it up. I saw it as a bit like the Aussies calling us Pommies or the Americans calling us limeys, they still do, banter i thought as it was an all embracing jokey term rather than targeting a specific minority of people, my bad it seems.

Lets remember many of us responded without calling into question the title, admin felt it over-stepped the mark which is fair enough, I can now understand their unease. Saying that, why did it take admin to notice it and have to act by deleting the thread before all this outrage about it blew up on this thread, some of those more upset on here were silent on the other thread.

I am as guilty as anyone for not picking up that it may risk offending someone when posting, I hold my hands up, as perhaps all those that read and/or posted should reflect on too. We can all help admin out too at times i guess and try to politely ask a friendly question to one another, doing so might inadvertently save us all from the so called naughty step with a quick edit. Saying that, we don’t want an overly sanitised board, just one fair and more respectful for the posters, readers but lets not that get in the way of humour, banter and debate, we all test each others patience at times and occasionally we all need to take our own advice rather than just give it out at times.

Apologies if required and an explanation. I was certain I'd read that the OP said he'd communicated with admin which was the main point I was taking issue with, but I've either misread or the post has been edited since my reading. Cheers.

Some of us ignored it as soon as they saw the thread title.
