Surprisingly we aren't on the list. We probably didn't pay the fee to enter that one.

When I worked for a credit card firm we were entering them every year, you paid a few thousand to enter and then paid a PR firm a wedge to come in and fluff up every little success story and make it sound like they'd cured cancer

Then there is an award dinner night where reps from every firm go in tunes and golf clap at the winners

Massive waste of cash in an attempt to get some logos to go on flyers. We won it several times for doing our jobs.

Same with "best curry" awards etc, they're not taking entries from every curry house to find the winner, a firm has applied for it and had the better PR firm.

I was never very good at geography but I’m sure there’s a few on your list that aren’t in UK & Ireland and wouldn’t be eligible for the award. 🤣🤣🤣
 
The Airport is fantastic, I used it last month and had a brilliant experience, but then it should be at what it actually costs us all.

This award is of course nonsense, a paid for award, that has cost us thousands- anyone that have used the airport recently can see that with just the sheer amount of flyers and advertising asking people to vote for it.

As I said the airport is fab, but it's very poor value for money and I'm not sure bus users should suffer because us that can afford to fly now and then are being subsidised by many that can't afford to fly.

I know you hate the airport with a passion but please tell me the alternative use for the airfield, more home, massive impact on the area or green field site which would invariably be sold of for housing.

We have a massive shortage of modern housing. You might not like it, but it's a fact.

Are you saying the ones on the Western Europe category aren't in uk and Ireland? London, Birmingham, Manchester? Just highlights how much fluff these awards are.

Pay to get in, then it's about who creates enough rah-rah to win enough votes. Would love to see the figures on how many votes each airport had in the end

Do I hate the airport? I have nothing against it, i'd just rather my taxes weren't keeping it afloat.

Under Peel ownership it was actually used more, but don't let facts get in the way of your whataboutery

Two things are certain in life, TAXES and Death and there is no escape from both, so we have to live with it. HS2 is being paid by my TAXES along with everybody else but will I use it, no not really, whinge about, not really.
If Teesside was like Newcastle/Leeds Bradford the complaints would be about air traffic.

Plenty of brown field sites around Teesside where housing can go up or be renovated instead of digging up green field sites for new housing. And no I'm not a fan of increased flights.

If you made a thread saying hs2 won an award for best rail line in the uk I'd imagine there would be similar enthusiasm
