Story emerging Spurs are messing about re Spence

Levy is rightly using any leverage he can get, Boro will want him to move on early in the window, his fee I would imagine will form the bulk of our transfer kitty, so in our interest to get him out early. Personally I think £20m is way off the mark, would imagine he will go for around £12m (upfront) + add ons, which is a fair price. Personally i would take it and move on, enhances our chance of gettiing our top targets in early before pre-season starts.

David Ornstein from athletic now tweeting that Spence has expressed a desire to sign for Spurs and that’s his preferred destination this summer.
I'm sure he wouldn't turn his nose up at joining Arsenal, Man Utd or Bayern Munich. £20m for £50m of talent is relative pocket change for these clubs. First come, first served!

No it’s not
Lets face facts, if he had 2/3 years on his contract then you may be able to push the price up to £20m (inc add ons), facts are he has 1 year left which will reduce his fee dramatically. 4 seasons in the championship - 102 appearances, 4 goals, 7 assists. Not even tested in the premier league, left his parent club last season, to go out on loan with questions over his professionalism & attitude. Is limited to the clubs he can go to, because he can't play in a back four, all of which make any offer north of £10 +add ons a good deal in my opinion.

Hi Daniel, stop now.

Blink with Levy and he will have your eyes out.

Ruthless horrible man, so I hope Gibson is on his toes here.
If someone else bids lively, then Levy will act.

why would we sell for a 'fair price', we want people to over pay for our players

It doesn’t really matter what we think. Boro have a price they want Spurs will have the price they want to pay particularly if they know the player wants to come to them.

Boro know how much they will need to raise to finance the deals they want to do. I can personally see the deal not happening Levy won’t likely give way.

He has two years left. Still surprised this doesn’t appear to be common knowledge. Club had an option to extend his contract earlier in the season and wisely did. Not sure DJed would fancy 2 years rotting in the reserves and losing millions.

Just slap the 20 million price on his head. First to pay it can have him. We always seem to pay way over the odds for players (Ashley Fletcher, Saville) etc and let our players go for peanuts. I'm hoping we are a lot smarter with this Spence deal. With the number of clubs supposedly interested and the fact he has a couple of years of his contract left to run. We are in a great position to negotiate and if we get anything less than 20 million, I would be disappointed. It's not as if these clubs can't afford it!

Not sure it will work like that. £20 million to Forest but I’m sure be a much larger proportion of their income than it would be to Spurs but they of course likely to have higher expenditure.

Could Forest afford lay that much out out on one player in their first year in the premiership?

He wants to go and we want to sell him. People assumed last week we would get £20,000,000 hopefully we will but it’s far from guaranteed.

Its a stereotypical transfer saga, brinkmanship and poker faces all round.

He wants to go to spurs and will go to spurs, of that I'm pretty sure, and we'll get what we want for him, just not as quickly as we want.

The price should be 15 million to forest, Brentford etc. Sell on clause. 20 million to EUROSUPERLEAGUE teams.
If no one has made a bid in a fortnight drop the fee to 12 million/15 million accordingly.

The longer it goes on, the longer it'll take for us to sign our targets. Call his bluff, tell him it's £20m now/soon, or £25m if it goes beyond a certain date, take it or leave it.

I said a couple of weeks ago that we should state our value and what we expect. If no club is prepared to meet it then he stays. If Spurs are messing us about, then other clubs, including Forest, will no doubt be ready to jump in.

I did think this would be done pretty quickly, and it looked that way a few days ago, but now that appears to be lazy journalism.

In the article it basically states that this deal will not deter our summer buisness, I'd imagine the only deal it'd derail is our big money move for say Gyorkes.

However, it also states we're more than willing to hang on to him if Spurs are gonna low ball us, we know forest are desperate for him and would meet our valuation, Spurs really need to hurry up or they're gonna end up losing out on him.

Really hope we stand our ground and recuperate what we think he's worth

Fu.ck Levy.
We have Steve Gibson - the best in the business. Gibbo's forgotten more than that di.ckhead knows.
