Story emerging Spurs are messing about re Spence

Spence has not been mentioned in the Evening Standard amongst all the transfer gossip about big name targets for London clubs. He is not a 'must have' for Spurs and they can afford to do this. We've been 'gazundered', but we don't have to be victims.

Lets face facts, if he had 2/3 years on his contract then you may be able to push the price up to £20m (inc add ons), facts are he has 1 year left which will reduce his fee dramatically. 4 seasons in the championship - 102 appearances, 4 goals, 7 assists. Not even tested in the premier league, left his parent club last season, to go out on loan with questions over his professionalism & attitude. Is limited to the clubs he can go to, because he can't play in a back four, all of which make any offer north of £10 +add ons a good deal in my opinion.
He has 2 years left, his current deal ends 2024

If Forest want him then Levy has competition doesn’t he?

Despite all the hype from their fans I’ve never been convinced Cooper genuinely wanted Spence.

We have no lose here Levy.

We either sell him to you for £20million.

He goes to someone else for £20million.

Or we keep him and he plays in a Wilder side.

You silly borldy barsteward.

It would be hilarious if we ended up with no bids. Warnock won't be able to tweet for peeing himself laughing.

Football insider have said Spurs are now closing in after late night talks. Wish this one would be over lmfao, sick of seeing his name plastered everywhere

Any well ran club does proper due diligence on incoming transfers to see how the land lies. The Gazette printing sub-headlines reading: "Good riddance' Middlesbrough fans react to news Djed Spence looks set for summer move to Spurs" does MFC's bargaining power no favours whatsoever.

Bitter fans missing out on a £50m player, one of their own homegrown players.. celebrating promotion with a league rival. Looks pretty straight forward to me.

I can see Levy going to £12m and that will be good business. Spence has been got at by Spurs and every interested club, even Bayern, will be aware of his reputation.
Also, it goes to show that fans can do their club a big favour by not falling out with a player before he can be sold.

If you want us to face facts then at least get the facts right.
Now that you know the truth I guess you think we should indeed tell Levy to do one, and try and push the price up to £20m (inc add ons)?

Fu.ck Levy.
We have Steve Gibson - the best in the business. Gibbo's forgotten more than that di.ckhead knows.
The best in the business?

Not sure that rose tinted specs.

What about the "great business" we have done previously on Fletcher, Saville, Lua Lua, Connoly, Gestede, etc etc the list is depressingly long.

Its been ages since we sold a player for a profit, and even then its a once in a blue moon kind of thing.

Totally agree. Get the money and get it spent on the squad. Can’t waste time.

If Spurs were starting to d*ck about and try to drive the price down - despite publicly stating Conte has been given £150m+ to spend on players - I'd play the game and start stating how we are looking forward to having him back, going to be a massive asset, what a great addition to the squad he will be etc etc. If clubs know there is a problem with Boro and we don't want him of course they will be doing everything to get him at a knockdown price as they will feel they are doing us a favour taking him off our hands.
The Levy - Berbatov - ManU deal is what we should be looking at replicating, not just getting "ah well, £10m is a good deal" in June. If it rumbles it rumbles, we need the dosh to help run the club / FFP etc as well as investing in new players.
See how things pan out, seems too much journalism "ITK" bollox at the minute.
