Agree it will be a red rag to a racist bull if we take the knee.

Lesser of two evils and, over time, it will stop - if evidence elsewhere is to go by

It needs bringing to a head.

It's the knowing how to deal with it as well, either stay silent and feel complicit or call it out and get a load of abuse from some subhuman peice of scum which then means you can't enjoy the match due to being worried about getting stabbed.

It's an absolute mess at the moment.

There is the problem
It is understandable that some stay quiet.
Challenge is brave but the right thing to do tho

He’s defo wrong if he thinks I’m posting stuff just to gain favour or suggesting I’m unable to formulate my own opinion on a subject. My guess is he’d had a few too many fizzy soups and thought he had something to say.. but he really didn’t.

It does.. there is unrest in the stands over it and the club staying silent and failing to act is just going to make it progressively worse. We dropped a massive bollokc putting it on the shoulders of our players.. if that was truely the case. It is just a small gesture but we’re massively behind in terms of our public perception for our attitude towards racism.
 
Perhaps the whole squad should make a short video / big posters saying

All in it together!

I don't agree with this. The players have to believe in the gesture if they are going to perform it and I think it is good that the players have decided to make a collective decision therefore protecting any individuals from criticism. I think it was correct to allow the players to make the decision.

It would be interesting to know whether discussions have re-occurred since last year when we decided to stop. Obviously a lot of the players have changed since then. Is the collective opinion still the same as it was then?

exactly. obviously Britt instigated it before but what is Jonny Howson's view on it? What is Carrick's? What about Chuba? @fmttmadmin one for the press conference!

It was Britt as captain that made the final decision. He is no longer here. Time for other ideas.

I noticed both the Villa lads went to take the knee then stopped. It's expected that we should by incoming players, just do it.

I noticed that as well. This is what got me thinking, have they even been consulted?
 
If it's any consolation, it wasn't audible on iFollow. Maybe the audio engineers mask it.

The players should probably re-discuss this and see how they feel today about going down on one knee. It sends a message from our players to our fans.

Not sure handing out bans, lifetime or otherwise would be a good idea. The club aint keen, thats for sure, but that may well be driven by financial concerns.

I have a radical solution, well it's radical for football, not for a school classroom. Split them up next season. Sit the bad ones next to decent fans and see how vocal they are.
 
I was in the North as usual last night and I definitely thought it was louder than normal.

Not only booing, but some bloke about 4/5 rows back shouted 'get the fu*k up'.

It's got worse if anything.

I suspect it will continue to escalate Marvanelli. From a legal perspective it's not, currently, against the law, however the club could still act on it, it's private property and they reserve the right to refuse anyone entry.

They could start with a general communication warning of upcoming penalties. As I said above, I wouldn't be surprised that the club are staying quiet because it would cost them money to issue bans.

I would hope the club have stayed silent only because they are trying to work out how to respond, or hoping that it goes away on its own.

I cant for one minute believe (or dont want to believe) that there are financial reasons behind the lack of response. That would be pi$$ poor at all levels of the club if there were a sliver of truth in that.

It would be dissappointing, not sure I would be surprised though.

I wonder how many Championship clubs are now taking the knee?
I also wonder what other proactive measures we can take as fans and as fans working with the club?
