Supporters of clubs could stop this in its tracks of they wanted to , just need to organise and let sky know that if it goes ahead tens/hundreds of thousands of people will stop their Sky ,Virgin or any other football subscriptions. Its pathetic that the top 8 teams want to stop the one member one vote system. Next it will be only them negotiating tv deals and then that as a golden vote holder they can never be relegated.

Talking of the Palladium went to see Van Morrison there a couple of weeks avo. There was some social distancing and spacing between couples but agree the inconsistency between allowing this and banning attending an open football stadium is crazy. .

I have no stats to back this up but I wouldn’t be surprised if 80% of Sky Sports subscribers support 20% of the clubs (applying Pareto’s
Principle) and therefore the majority of Sky Sports payers probably couldn't give a stuff about it as they support the big 6 and won’t be in any way put out by the proposals, other than the occasional traditionalist amongst them.

Parry has shared his plans with just a few close confidants, including the Stoke chairman, John Coates, and his Middlesbrough counterpart, Steve Gibson. “They are 100 per cent supportive because it is for the greater good,” Parry said. “Those two are genuinely up for it. They are excited, and passionate about it. In a time when everyone is panicking how we will emerge from it you need a long-term vision and you need hope.”

oh dear.

Football and I mean the EFL is on the edge of collapse, something needs to happen and very quickly otherwise many clubs will be gone.
I for one don't understand why small attendances, marshalled and controlled can't happen, when you see what's happening elsewhere.
We could be heading down the path of no return for many many clubs., let's hope a package can be agreed quickly.

It needs the players to start to look at their own contracts and think about the long term consequences.

It needs the fans to stop looking at the league table.

Love to know Mike Ashley’s thoughts on it .............actually I surmise it’d get a response of “ fcuk em all , greed is good “

People are acting surprised? I don't understand that. For me personally, Gibson proved he was a tory rat at the last election. What "man of the people" votes for a party, and endorses them that are the enemy of the working classes. He endorsed a political party who are currently giving billions of tax payers money to their doners (PPE), who are grabbing a pay rise while clapping for nurses and are making corruption the new normal. Gibson voted against a bloke who wanted to improve the lives of the working classes, who was willing to take on disgusting tax havens. Britain has the most tax havens in the world. Look into Serco and the Crown, you will then see the sespit this government are. So, why are people surprised?

The real problem that has to be wrestled with is how viable clubs were before the pandemic hit.
personally I hope all clubs can be saved, even the badly run ones, purely for their fans sake. However, I can see an argument for the opposite outcome for some badly run ones.
Whatever happens football needs better regulation and fairer opportunities. They should be seen as the lifeblood of their community and not as cash cows for a few greedy owners. I for one may be alone, but I think the time has come for significant government intervention and regulation to protect these valuable community assets. They really are priceless to many ordinary folk like us.

We still cling on to the principles of fairness and honesty, but the veil has long slipped - revealing what we prefered to deny all along.(n)
