Steffen….behave yourselves.

I've just arrived back and am still ***ed off with him.
He put us under more pressure today than anything in a claret shirt.
Everything about his performance today was utterly abject.
His fannying about with the ball at his feet is now completely beyond a joke, but he doesn't make saves and he doesn't remotely command his area. He is not the goalkeeper he thinks he is and too many are taken in by him.
The yank coach got it spot on not taking him.

Always risks playing like that but I would guess it creates more goals than a keeper aimlessly punting the ball up the pitch and giving away possession every time

He is far better with the ball than any keeper we have had in years
It’s a balance I agree but it just makes me nervous.

I wouldn’t change a winning lineup for one bad match, and whilst I know it isn’t the first time Steffen has played badly, he’s also been part of this good run.

I was never taken in by the fact he was owned by City and capped by USA, turns out he’s about 4th choice for both, but I’d give him a chance to sort it out on Boxing Day before we start talking about sending him back etc.

He was rubbish today like.

The playing out from the back mistake has been coming for games, teams will target his casualness. It's frustrating as hes a good keeper.

It was a funny game. We seemed to start time wasting/taking our time very early in the game (mid to late first half). Steffan as goalie more than most. He then seemed to get distracted after getting booked and then appeared to lose concentration. He showed this trait at City and at times with Boro too. He seriously needs a rocket up his ****!

Nothing wrong with what he does with the ball, he is better with the ball than a fair amount of outfield players in this league

This simply isn’t true. He’s a clean striker of the ball, but his long passing is actually awful. He holds onto the ball for far too long, then continually gives the ball to the wrong player

He had a bad day at the office, sometimes his lifted passes out were putting the defence under pressure. Occasionally, wellying it up the park isn't a bad choice.

Zach Steffen is the best goalkeeper since Randolph that is a fact. He had an off day why don’t we just leave it at that 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️
He’s arguably not the best keeper at the club.

You’re becoming a bit tiresome with don’t criticise players. It’s a message board. When someone has a bad penalty or a bad performance then it should be called out.

It’s not the only off day he’s had. When you have more than one off day people are going to bemoan the performance

It’s having the awareness yesterday as a team that we couldn’t beat the press so we should have went long and competed for the 2nd ball, cos ultimately after knocking it at the back we pumped it long and had no one competing for 2nd balls

I haven’t said don’t criticise anybody, but most of it isn’t warranted, it’s like some people revel In it. People have off days, they are only human. Steffen, Akpom have both been excellent and people can’t wait to jump on them.

Platt, Pears, Schwarzer. The best 3 keepers I've watched at Boro all had dodgy spells and weaknesses to their game. Were the fans as reactionary back then?

They are not jumping on them, they are giving an assessment of the performance.

Akpom has been excellent, his penalty was tosh. We are allowed to say that but you’re saying we should shut up because he’s been excellent. Or that because we say he didn’t do well with the penalty were jumping all over it.

Im not having that at all. You’re contradicting yourself by saying you can criticise but you can’t these two because you think they’ve been excellent (akpom definitely, question marks about if Steffan has put many performances that have been 8 or above in)
