Starmer is a lying rat/Corbyn was chuffing useless - discuss

It's pretty obvious really.

A bunch of largely middle-class centrists blame Corbyn for Brexit - despite both his constituency and his Labour party members voting massively in favour of Remain.
They blame him for two election defeats despite having the full force of the British media thrown at him and having no support from his own Parliamentary Party (MPs).
They also claim that he should have stood down after a vote of no confidence because that's the democratic thing to do but don't care that the PLP ignored the democratic wishes of the membership (twice).
They will claim he was a terrible leader but won't define what they think good leadership qualities are.
They will claim he's a poor politician despite being returned to the same constituency seat for over 35 years (10 elections).
They think his track record of attempting to broker peace in various theatres and his protests against e.g. apartheid South Africa make him an unsuitable candidate for Labour leader as it gave the media ammunition to use against him.
And he looked scruffy once when he was on his allotment.

Essentially they prefer someone who looks like a middle-manager at an IT conglomerate who has never done anything remotely left-wing, so there's nothing the press can point at. A knighthood and membership of some elite bodies also helps to show he's really one of the people. And the middle name Rodney as they all loved Only Fools and Horses back in the day.

Wow you really are having a tantrum aren't you. How on earth do you manage to get through the day?

That post graduates from a defence of Corbyn to an attack on Starmer so effortlessly 🤣

Do you often criticise somebody you've never met before because they were awarded a knighthood for services to the profession they worked in?

Or indeed criticise them for their profession and membership of certain bodies which simply comes with the job?

And then criticise them because of their name?

I mean, it's just a pathetic and juvenile attitude you have.

He clearly lied about wanting to stay in the EU. The membership was massively in favour - something like 80% - so he sat on the fence for 3 years.
I voted for him as leader and I thought he was a breath of fresh air.
But I did feel very let down by him over Brexit.
The will and opportunity was there to push for a second referendum - especially with support from the SNP.
But, as you point out, the right wing media destroyed him. The anti-semetism row was scandalous

This pretty sums up my feelings re Brexit. Alistair Campbell has been very vocal re JC’s lack of Brexit leadership and it’s hard to disagree.

With more leadership instead of waiting to see which way the wind blows we would still be in the EU. There is little doubt in my mind about it.

So even on a thread designed to facilitate criticism of Corbyn and Starmer we can't criticise Starmer?

Scrote was replying to somebody who said they couldn't understand the vitriol directed toward Corbyn. Said poster did not even mention Starmer.

Scrote's reply started off ok but then, as he has a tendency to do, it drifted into childish comments about Starmer's status, profession and name.

There are many subjects to be critical of Starmer about but the ones Scrote mentioned are not.

I'm going to change my name by deed poll, to Starmer-Corbyn or the other way round maybe and then stand as an independent in the General election. Surely, I'd gain a sweeping majority by hoovering up all the votes of both sets of supporters. I might even put 2 hyphens in and use the name Farage as well to get the numpty ex Labour voters who've switched to Reform.

I reckon I'd absolutely p**s it.

Westminster gravy train here I come.

The name thing was obviously a joke. If you can't see that then it's just a reflection of your own prejudice.

Starmer's status is important. Being a Knight of the Realm for services to the down-trodden might be acceptable. Getting a gong as part of the establishment quid pro quo setup isn't a good look for a Labour leader. It indicates his lack of serious leftist credentials.

His membership of the Trilateral Commission is also a massive red flag. If it was innocent why did he leave when he became Labour leader.

You could be certain where Corbyn would stand on just about any given issue.

I don't think anyone really knows where Starmer stands on anything.

Obviously a joke yeah. Stick to the day job because humour doesn't come naturally to you. 'A reflection of my own prejudice' 🤔. That's a new one, I like it.

But he got it before he became a politician. What was he supposed to do?
Look I get it, Starmer is a high achiever while Corbyn has never done a days work in his life. Perhaps if Corbyn had stuck to his Polytechnic studies he might have made a bit more of his career.

You could be certain where Corbyn would stand on just about any given issue.

Now I know you're just trolling. We wouldn't have had this Brexit clusterfcuk but for Corbyn and his neverending series of referendum promises.

How did Jeremy stand on Private Education, and career politicians?

`Really?

He was CND supporter from the age of 15. He has been vice chair and is now vice president.
He was chair of parliamentary CND
It’s not a stretch to conclude we totally against Nuclear Weapons for the UK

He went to the polls with the party he was leading committed to spend £billions on Trident?

he was a brexiteer…. Sat on the fence not saying a word.

Voted for both. Corbyn was naive, as was I, in thinking this country's establishment would ever allow a socialist to assume power in Downing Street. I then voted for Starmer who will win the next election, but I've left the party because of him.
Same here.

How do you make tripe taste good?

Place the tripe in a pot and add herbs and vegetables to season (e.g. onion, carrot, celery, bay leaf, parsley, cloves, peppercorns). Cover with water and add a generous amount of salt.
Then throw it in the bin

Same here.
I can understand your point of view and know you like Harry are a good man, but I think there is more to the Labour Party and both its current and prospective members of parliament than Kier Starmer.
Some of them box clever, such is this country's dominant political and media stranglehold, so its probably dawned on some of these socialists, that this is what they have to do, and not be a martyr like the early Christians but to be clever.
Its only because of the financial situation that some of our population have now thought they want these xxxxxxxx out of power, nothing else.

So I say make hay while the suns out, its important to do so for some of our people who may need it.

Because thats what the Party voted on at Conference and he said he would abide by their decision.

Oh I'll be voting for Labour, I just no longer want to give them any of my money, given some of the dirty tricks they've pulled locally on long term loyal members.

And that's fair enough! I don't give them my money either. Though I cancelled my membership for different reasons

And yet we literally have a bunch of far right idiots who ought to be jailed for how they have dismantled this country in 14 long years and rendered it worthless for decades to come- despite the Tories crying, nothing to see here, Britain is great!
Can you not just clasp your hands together and prey this lot get massively rejected at the polls very soon 🙏🏻🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️👌

They will, by me too.
