Starmer flying from London to Edinburgh

So the flight was empty in your earlier post but almost empty in your last. I am taking it that this was a scheduled flight and not just for Starter. So it went anyway as did the train. So unless you are banning them all it's not having any difference to the climate today. Whether they are banned in the future a question for another day.

I don’t know, but either way that’s not really the point.

As an example - You wouldn’t take someone who pledged to fight against the fur trade who then went and bought a fur coat seriously would you?

“Was the coat made already or was it made to order?” wouldn’t really wash would it?

Or come to think of it, you wouldn’t take a politician who was pushing for everyone to drive electric cars who didn’t actually have one himself seriously - Ed Miliband.
You are pledging to fight for greenhouse emissions to be lowered so I presume you drive an electric car then?

Clearly you are showing disdain for a politician taking a short hail flight then equally any politician driving a 4 x 4 landcover should equally be held up to account? Or is it just Labour leaders that get your goat?

I thought a Zoom call would have been the answer.
The answer to most things these days. I can only hope that the one good thing that comes out of this pandemic is that a lot of people realise that they can work just as easily from home and that there's no need to fly halfway around the world for a business meeting when you can just do it on your laptop and that will be far better for the environment.

Pog expect an update from you when Boris flys off to India soon.
I don't agree with pog on anything else but I do agree with him that Starmer is awful. And the polls are terrible because he's lost the left, me included. I really hope that we get a leadership challenge soon because he's clueless. And by all accounts he doesn't even speak to Angela Rayner any more which would maybe explain why she's seemed so anonymous since she became deputy leader. That's just the Tom Watson thing all over again and the problem with the membership electing the leader and the deputy leader separately so the leader ends up with a deputy who doesn't have the same outlook as he or she does. I'm a big admirer of Zarah Sultana. Part of that is because I agree with her politics, part of that is because I'd just love us to have prime minister Sultana, part of that is because it would great to have a socialist leader who is of Asian descent and female but to be honest the main reason is just because I really fancy her.

To me, right now the Labour party looks like a 'cuts of beef' depiction.
Substitute your current woes, your angst against Starmer, your favourites, whether one cut is better, your choice cut

A party with no commonality is no party at all.

The left has always been really good at internal strife and destroying itself and the Tories are just as divided but really good at pretending that they aren't when it comes to election time. But I don't think that the current labour party even qualifies as the left any more. That's why I stopped paying my subs and now I've joined the NIPS instead. At least they actually stand for something.

Why are we even wasting our time on a politics thread? Get yourself back on the 'Bands who were better live then they were in the studio' thread mate. I can't keep that thread going all by myself. I'm sure that you must have peed standing next to some famous people over the years. I can't be the only one.

Wow. That has to be one of the dumbest false equivalencies I’ve seen.

How else is someone supposed to get to India? (Though I’d prefer the zoom call if possible).

Again, people have to bring Johnson into the conversation. You ask Starmer supporters what he stands for and they can’t without switching the conversation to how terrible Johnson is, because there’s nothing there.

FFS You seem intent on targeting the man for anything and everything. if only you could channel your anger at those who really deserve it
He DOES deserve it and thats the truth.
Lead by example from the front.
No respect for someone in a position of power who has influence over many others - says one thing then does the opposite.
Hypocrite.
He may be a nice man, but his politics stink.

Thats a fair comment but a problem with the Labour Party going forward is how to appeal to a broad base sufficient to kick these crooks out of Government. I fear that internal disagreement on how to mount that opposition is going to give this lot a free ride for years.
Its about what he does in public!
His politics blow according to how he wants to do things, not about policies.
Every time someone criticises him its not "infighting" - thats bullcrap.
The electors can see it.
The mans politics are those of a chameleon.
Why do you find him so fireproof?
Dont call Boris - when his pretender is just as self-centred and a populist loose canon!

Sorry I’d like to engage with you but you are shouting at me and melodramatic nonsense to boot.

Ah well, it’s the Tories and all that comes with it for ever and ever then.

If the natural Labour vote fragments, and it has at various times over the years, then you get a Conservative government because they know you have to stick together to get into power.

And a left leaning progressive alliance of Labour, SNP, Greens etc etc - no chance, if Labour can‘t agree among itself and everybody wants their own way, how will a coalition with other parties get off the ground?

At the mercy of Johnson and co for ever and a day?
