Conte's not daft, he didn't even want him, so won't consider him.
With Spence it was 90% hype, with his ability, and then there's also the attitude question.
They got him cheap mind, and relatively low risk, with how they structured the deal. Even if it doesn't work out for Spence/ Spurs, they would largely still get their money back, if he doesn't play much and doesn't have the chance to be found out.
Terrible business by us mind, absolute lack of common sense, did anyone ask the question:
Why are we allowing allocating so much of the fee, largely as appearance based, when a) He's never played in the prem, b) Spurs are a top prem side, c) Spurs have a few RH side options.
Same with the tav deal:
Why are we selling our best midfielder for £10m, and can we name 5 "targets" who we could replace him with, for less money? What will it cost us if we have a shocking season, how much of the Tav money will be left after that?
Seems to me we just get dazzled by headlights and pound signs, and nobody is capable of taking a step back and looking at our deals from an objective viewpoint.
