Spence

Obviously I haven't really got a clue what goes on, but you'd think a player and their advisors would want to know what a team's plan for them is before deciding to join.

Do they see you as being a key part of the first team squad, who will you be competing for a place with, what position do they see you playing etc?

Now maybe Spurs told him he'd be seen as a first team player and would be competing for a starting place. But seems a bit unlikely given he's not been given a sniff.

So he's either been misled, his attitude and application in training has been so bad spurs have demoted him pretty quickly or he'll have known he was being signed as a fringe player and didn't care.

Or none of his entourage bothered asking in the first place (which is a possibility).

From what we've seen and based on comments from Warnock and Woodgate, doesn't strike me as being the sort to knuckle down and work hard if he's not in the side and his manager isn't blowing smoke up his ****. But he's older, maybe a little wiser and perhaps he'll prove his doubters wrong.

Worth noting that spence is on a 5 year deal. You'd think at least 15k a week but probably a lot more for his performance that year and the team he has gone to but let's say 20k a week

Even if he rots in the reserves that is 5.2 million and assumes he never gets any bonuses for playing, scoring and stuff like sign on bonuses

Realistically 5 years is a long contract so doesn't really matter that he isn't in their first team yet or if they want him to go to a champs club on loan for a season because they think he has more development to do, no matter what he has made a **** load of cash and is at one of the biggest clubs in the world. I reckon he will come good eventually but not be a top player, just a good one. After this contract he's still going to get a decent enough one somewhere or other, so fist play to him.

Is he really that good though?

Forest were on the crest of a wave last season and a number of their players looked top class.

Did he just become part of that hype or has he genuine potential?

The Spurs move has been disastrous so far.

You don't get voted player of the season for riding on peoples coat tails or other players ability.

He had a class season, media attention, positive comments from pundits and neutrals and earned a big money move. Not all premier league moves go well instantly, by all accounts he is a bit of a knob but so are a lot of players

He didn't get voted player of the season for Forest.

Aleksander Mitrovic won the Championship player of the season.

Brennan Johnson won young layer of the season for both Forest and the Championship.

Fair play i misrememberd!

But still;

An outstanding season at the City Ground saw Djed scoop numerous personal awards, including a hat-trick of honours after impressive performances in March: the EFL Championship Player of the Month, EFL Championship Goal of the Month and, for the second time in his career, the EFL Young Player of the Month.

Further recognition came at the end of the 2021/22 campaign, as he was named in the EFL Championship Team of the Season and the PFA Championship Team of the Year.

What's happened to serial POTS winner Matt Clarke then?

Do you think spence thinks he was going to become stockpiled system of potential loaners when he signed, or do you think he backed himself to break into the team, given the media talk about him from about January.
I think he was probably in two minds, and took the lazy option.

Spurs bought him as they need to have 8 players trained in England for both their European and premier League squads. It's the same reason Chelsea bought whatisface keeper whose name I've forgot. Ben something. And Liverpool bought Brad Jones.

Rule was brought in to try and help English players. All it's done is big teams buy up decent players and use them as bench warmers.

One of the biggest clubs in the world? They’re at best, the sixth biggest club in England, and have had a fairly disastrous time for silverware over the last 30 years.

I can understand why Spurs is a more appealing move than Forest if you think you’re going to play, but I think lots of people could see this coming. And yes, he’ll be rich, but that doesn’t mean it was the right move necessarily.

This is spot on. It was obvious why they signed him, as has been alluded to earlier, and they was to help with home grown quotas.

He must have this was coming surely? Who was the last Championship player to move to and get a regular game for a top 6 Premier League club? I don’t remember any in recent memory.

15th biggest club in the world, I didn't mention silverware. Even 6th biggest club in England I think most players would take playing for one of the big 6.
