Southgate staying on for the Euros

Hopefully the lads can use the disappointment and crack on. Win their Nations League group, Qualification Group and have a real go at the finals in Germany.

England are better currently than a lot of European teams.

Right decision in the end. Don’t change a team that’s making significant progress

Another one rewarded for abject failure.
'We gave it a jolly good show' sick of it.
A wealth of talent at his fingertips and we failed at the first real hurdle.

He was already under contract until 2024, he did nothing to deserve sacking.

No rewards involved, it's just not punishing a manager for largely performing well.

We were very narrowly beaten by the current World Champions, who are also the current finalists, and we were the better team in that match and awful refereeing and uncharacteristically poor finishing cost us.
Southgate did not.

Before that point, we were the best performing team in the tournament.

Off we go again. Making excuses after defeat.
We got relegated in the micky mouse nations league after getting beat by a team that didn't even qualify for the world cup.
He was a shyte club manager and he's still shyte.

Take a deep breath.

They're not excuses, they're facts.

He's done a decent job, there's no immediately obvious candidate to replace him right now, there's plenty of time for his replacement to bed in before the 2026 World Cup.

Deserves the opportunity to have one more crack. His team is evolving and improving with time, hopefully ready to win Euros.

I must admit though, we've had 2 great opportunities thus far in major comps, and failed on both occasions, albeit i thought that we acquitted ourselves well against France . I don't think our path will be as straightforward again because I forsee Spain, Germany, Holland and Italy all recovering their international strength.

I'm hoping to see France win today, which would give us an encouraging yardstick to measure our own team. I look at the sides England have managed to beat in knockout games in recent tournaments and its not good reading and possibly the sign of a fragile mentality.

Southgates next tournament is his last chance mind, unless he wins it.

Decent job. :ROFLMAO:

Played 6 won none, 3 draws and a goal difference of -6. Cracking performance.

Won nowt and got relegated. Useless.

Excellent news. Another quarter or semi final exit when we meet a decent team.

I don't think he's done much wrong, took us to the next level, but I don't think he can take us all the way.

No idea who his replacement should be though.

This is brilliant. Declaring a competition Mickey mouse then slagging the bloke for not doing well in it. Take a bow sir.

Actualy makes it worse. Rock bottom and against two teams that didn't even make the world cup.

I'm not the only one who doesn't rate Southgate..... does this sound familiar?

"I was more than happy for Southgate to be sacked when he was. I would have preferred it if he had gone earlier, but as soon as possible were my thoughts."

He was worthless then, and still is.

Played 24 times against top 10 in the world opposition and won 4 times and you're all happy with this?

New manager please

Which England manager has had a good record against top 10 sides since 1966?

I expect plenty of those 24 games were draws and friendlies too.
