Someone has to mention the elephant in the room

I'm honestly pleased for them to get there. More so for the North East. It makes a great change from the typical Citeh-Liverpool hype we were served every Cup Final. Regardless of what the Geordies might have to say or think about us, North East football has struggled for well over a decade, with the occasional Promotion.

I wouldn't be heartbroken if they didn't win it, but at the same time if they do I'll give them a appreciative nod of the head.
 
Yeah its not the rivalry for me as such, rather the fact I lived among them for 8 years :)

They were indescribable pricks at that point (when they were rubbish), god knows what it would be like now.

And the same for Geordies down here when we were doing well.

I spent time working in Jarrow while we were doing well and didn't hold back when it came to the football chat and the inevitable trophies and crowds came into the conversation.
 
Sky Sports and TalkSport will be unbearable until the day of the final. The w*nkfest is absolutely over the top, felt sorry for the Southampton pundit they had on last night, like being a third-wheel on another couple's first date.

Yeah funnily enough my time there was during arguably the best period in Boro's history (cup win, European adventure).

Tried not to engage with them at all, football or otherwise though. I had the benefit of being a student however so most of my mates up there were either from back home or elsewhere in the country.
 
Was in the Saints end last night, it felt like Newcastle and their fans were dying to bottle it all game it’s just that Southampton are really bad and couldn’t capitalise.

Thought it was going to be a cauldron of noise but Newcastle fans were shocking for the most part. I thought it was going to be like the big nights at the Riverside under the lights x2 but it just wasn’t at all. Obviously very loud for the goals and the final whistle but other than that, really poor,
 
Saints are a funny one - very nice technical side who play some excellent football but absolutely toothless up front. That said, Adams' strike was fantastic

You lived there for 8 years and yet tried not to engage with the locals? How strange.

We’ve lived in Northumberland for almost a year now and football rivalries aside, the locals are some of the friendliest people you could wish to meet.

Work up there 5 days a week. The more successful they are, the more delusional they become. They actually don't mind Boro generally. But I can't stand them and have everything crossed that Man Utd batter them in the final.

Some of the displays and flag waving pre match looks impressive but the reality is they don't actually generate a great atmosphere at St James Park. I've thought it every time I've been. A good mate of mine is a Newcastle season ticket holder and he came with us to the home game Vs Sunderland this season. We sat in the South West corner and he got a real shock at how loud the Boro fans were. It was rocking all game and I don't think he was used to that at SJP.

I've only been there once in 2007, don't remember all that much because I was smashed but I thought with it being a semi-final last night the place would be bouncing, it wasn't even close to that. The noise for the 2 goals and at the final whistle was very loud but you'd expect that with 50k fans.
 
Was talking to my Toon supporting friends yesterday. I said to them l thought they would win the game and would get to Wembley. They were supportive of our position and were glad that we bounced back after our disappointing result against Blunderland.
I said now we are third we must be favourites to get to Wembley as well and that we would be the first North East team to win a major final at the new Wembley! 😁
