Some unpleasant posting on here of late

Yes lots of them will, I’ve no doubt about that - especially where i live in Sunaks constituency
That's depressing. We really need to educate people to combat such ignorance. I saw a post on twitter where it said "you might not DO politics, but your landlord does, the people who run your company do, so even if you don't do it, it does you"

I feel like I’m among friends here. After being a member for 24 years or something mental it just feels like a virtual pub that I’m a regular at when I feel like I need company.

The board always makes me laugh, makes me think or teaches me something. I like the different opinions and always feel welcome. If I didn’t, I wouldn’t bother using it, it’s just a fun messageboard to have a chat on at the end of the day and we shouldn’t take it personally.

The times I’ve got sick of the board are when there’s dominant narcissists making it all about them, boring “characters” derailing everything or people starting rows for no reason. It’s not like that at all at the moment, so I think it’s in good shape.

The only other thing I would say and this is probably societal and also down to my own situation, but the board is in many ways less social.

I would think I have probably personally met well over a thousand posters from here in the last 25ish years but probably only a small number of those I already know in the last 5.

Been on the board 24 years, and would say 99% of the time it's top craic. Don't have to agree with everything I read, don't have to like posters. If a topic doesn't particularly interest me, I'll leave it. If I'm not in a good place, I'll come off and take a break.

The board in a lot of ways represents society's mood. Society is currently massively frustrated for a number of reasons - good and bad. The country is fecked, Brexit has split the country. Racism has come out from under its rock (it never really did go away).

Boro, the footy team, is flat at the moment. Big disconnect between the fans and the club, mental ST prices, fans can't buy kit, match day experience meh. This turns around and we push top 6 the board is a much nicer place. The professional moaners drift away, back in their boxes.

Gobshytes are everywhere, keyboard warriors, social media experts. These permeate into forums such as this, and sadly this is one of the really bad side effects of social media. People hide behind keyboards, snidey little sh*thouses who wouldn't dare say something to someone's face but are happy to type it anonymously. Dregs of society.

I've hung around on here so long because (apart from my addiction to Boro) it's a good community. I've made many good friends via this board, been sorted with loads of useful information, laughed, been sad. I'll continue to read, chip in and (generally!) enjoy loitering.

A lot of people are going through a lot of stuff which they don't want to / can't discuss on here. Life is tough for many. Really tough. Respect people and be nice 👍

Just regarding voting intention debate on this thread.

One of the big illusions of western democracy is that it is a democracy. It’s really an aristocracy. For hundreds of years money has talked in politics. For a long time only certain people could vote, for a long time women had no voice.

Although there are Politicians from humble backgrounds the majority are 100% establishment type people. Private schools, mates in media, law and finance. They get lobbied constantly and will implement policies thought up by shadowy so called Think Tanks. Those tanks are usually funded by very wealthy people.
