So it wasnt the lurgy...

I hope you are doing your deep breathing exercises. Be prepared, they could give you little notice but it will be sooner rather than later otherwise they would have sent you home. Read all the info they give you, forewarned is forearmed. It will be soon . Don't forget your breathing and leg exercises. Positivity is important. You will be fine if they were worried they would have done you first, always a positive if you look hard enough :)
Cheers mate. I got a book for my Kindle....How to Stop Overthinking. I'm a b***r for that.

It's OK to overthink as long as you keep your thoughts positive. It would be impossible not to think about the forthcoming OP. If you have any questions just ask, no question is too irrelevant everyone's worries are different The staff would rather you ask than be laid there all worried. You will be bored especially with few visitors allowed. Hopefully your OP is soon and then you can focus on your recovery.

Kinda sounds ridiculous, yeah, but that what it's about. It's really about catching negative thinking and anxiety and learning how to deal with it.
That’s really what I’ve found fluoxetine to be helpful for stopping thoughts from persisting. I still get negative thoughts, but then move onto another thought, rather than the negatives becoming a loop.

In terms of worries that have played on my mind over the years, not one of the scenarios that I have created in my head has, in hindsight, been something that has ended up happening!

I’m saying this not because I think fluoxetine is a route to take, but because I think your book will be helpful as it deals with a similar issue by an alternative method. It’s important for your well-being, I think, to take back some control in a situation where you feel everything is beyond your control.

One of the themes in the book is about learning to make the distinction between what you can and can't control. I've found this helpful to leave the worrying about the surgery itself to the surgeons and other medics and concentrate on what I can do after to recover.

Safe journey Jim lad. Let us know as soon as you can when 'tis done. I think it's white smoke? Or would that mean you'd been elected Pope? How do you look in a hat? And no, we're not going to kiss your ring. Be nice if you could do something for the LGBTQs once you're Pope. Just a thought.

Cheers. I'm more likely to **** in the woods, however...

Yes, I guess when we fly on a plane, we leave the flying to the pilot, whilst we concentrate on comforts on the flight.

You’ll feel amazing by the end of the week, with the weight off your shoulders. I’m crossing everything here that you aren’t delayed.

I felt crap on Sunday, thought it was just the lurgy. Heart had been going fast, but settled down. Monday I rang work and they said to get a PCR test. I was all set to go but then my heart rate rocketed and I felt awful with chest pains and breathlessness. Rang ambulance and am now in hospital in Norwich contemplating the distinct possibility of heart bypass surgery. I've got Bob Mortimer's book on Kindle now and am reading all about his bypass in amongst his hilarious and touching life story. Kind of scary but I guess needs must.

Guys, take it from me: don't take your health for granted. Don't ignore warnings.
Hope you are feeling better as soon as possible @Littlejimmy

Good luck Littlejimmy, hope all goes well and looking forward to your post-op posts soon. Try sending some random stuff whilst you're still coming down from the anaesthetic as people come out with some truly interesting stuff in that state. And didn't The Beatles write half their stuff while they were on another planet? You might get yourself a record deal if you come up with some canny stuff ;)

I don't usually need drugs to come out with some utter bollicks, so we'll see...

Thanks everyone. Amazing what difference a couple of days makes to one's mood!
