Sickening off our best manager in years to buy Hoppe and Forss

Whilst I do think Wilder is/was a decent manager widely speaking, Leo has actually got a better record this season in terms of ppg with the exact same squad. Smaller sample of course.
Come on, can we stop with the nonsense about Leo. He looks and sounds utterly lost. Not his fault, he shouldn't be doing what he's doing.
The bloke who appointed him couldn't even be bothered to turn up yet again.
The situation is farcical and our performance today was utterly pathetic.

We all know what the real problems are — midfield and it’s been the same issue now for 3 seasons. It’s clear of me CW wanted a replacement for Howson in the summer and didn’t get him.

I doubt very much the strikers weren’t his also as he would have played them. The fact that both Hoppe and Forss aren’t starting under Leo tells you everything you need to know how much he values them.

This club is being led by the lies in data and stupidity.
The club is being led by a clueless narcissist

Expect we will see when he gets his next job that the manager wasn’t the problem here
Time will tell, but his last two jobs have ended in very similar circumstances, so it's not like the 'issues' leading to his sacking here were new.

West Brom came close to appointing him it seems, only to be put off after carring out a bit of due diligence with Sheff Utd.

It will be interesting to see which club takes a gamble on his because he's a risky appointment for anyone now for sure.

What I don’t understand is if if Carrick is coming because we’ve assured we’ll back him in January, why didn’t we back Wilder?

Because one is a complete novice. One is a proven manager in this league with promotions under his belt. Surely you back the one who’s proved he’s capable? It just seems strange that we’re moving heaven and earth to get Carrick, when he’s a completely unknown quantity. Admittedly it’s probably because I’ve been beaten down by the Boro over the years, but it’s looking like another poor decision. If that’s what we are doing.

I can only assume Gibson didn’t want to back Wilder after the Burnley sh!tshow.

I have to say this, but the tickets prices this season are a complete joke with these clueless performances. And Gibson doesn’t even say something about what’s happened this season. Leo shouldn’t really be in this position, but he is, he’s done a half decent job for himself but Gibson the one where most the blame lies as well as the recruitment team.

It seems we were reluctant to back Wilder after he showed for the Burnley job.

Wilder will be out of game for a long while he's not going to get offers of a stature which match his huge ego.
The wilderball system is spent I would put my house on him failing in his next few roles because he won't adapt or evolve

Managers come and go, certainly at Boro last few years but it doesn't matter who comes next.....our squad is dog s hit....
If fans think whoever comes in will hit the ground running and everything will fall into place, don't hold your breath
As the saying goes you can't make a silk purse from a sow's ear.... We have a talentless squad ....it was painful watching that today

I'm not sure it was a case of Wilder's system being found out. Wilder got Sheff Utd promoted to the Premier League. Surely Premier League backroom staff would have done their homework and studied how his system works before playing Sheff Utd, yet Sheff Utd were able to finish 9th that season.

Again, there was a spell not long after he'd taken charge here where we were performing well and getting results. It should have been easy for clubs in the Championship to have done their homework before playing us, and come to an understanding of how to play against us, yet we were able to do well for a period.

I really feel the wheels came off after the Hull game. Wilder came out and publicly criticised players, and it was after this game when the Burnley speculation began.

I think things could have been different had we signed the defensive midfielder Wilder wanted, the LCB Wilder wanted, a decent replacement for Tav in midfield. As it was though, Wilder wasn't aligned with the club with regards to the type of signings he wanted the club to make in my opinion.

Was it also the case that Gibson no longer trusted Wilder because of Burnley? Were the players no longer playing for Wilder because of Burnley and the fact he'd started publically criticising them?

Who knows, but what I do know is that it most likely wasn't a case of his system being found out.

People are saying we havnt seen Hoppe.

There's a reason for that !

Two managers obviously don't rate him,but our chairman, ceo and director of football do !

See also......Mowatt, Luango....the list goes on

I'm guessing we get about £7-9m a season from gate receipts.. plus £2.5m TV money.. yet some fans seem to think we can out spend relegated PL teams with their parachute payments plus top tier teams..

Wilder got many of the players he wanted, we missed out on some no doubt though we can just outbid teams as Derby have shown spending beyond your means can ruin a club.

Wilder said Mowett was the best we could do for a Tavernier replacement!!

Nah we're the only club in the Championship that didn't get every player their manager wanted ;) it's perfectly reasonable to expect us to drop £10m+ on an unproven striker ;)

Let’s not forget THAT is what Wilder thought we needed! a £10m striker!

Signing Forss and Hoppe haven’t made any difference as neither have played so I’m not sure what the point if this thread is.

We were after Strznd Larsen and a bunch of other strikers but didn’t land them

Wilder was sacked due to results, largely dictated by his slavish devotion to a system that Ray Charles could see wasn’t working, and his ego in thinking he could whore himself around any perceived ‘b***r club’ and still commend respect from the players

When he came I thought he would be a big step forward. Yes we should have bought another couple of midfielders but he also was not getting the best out of the players he had

He’s gone now so stop crying, put your big boy pants on and get behind your team
Can’t see how we are making judgement on Hoppe
How many games has he played?
2?
