Sam Morsy to Ipswich?

Got to be about money hasnt it?
Read a few rumours (on line so probably nonsense) that Morsy is the covidiot telling all the players not to get vaccinated, that wound Warnock up. Probably total nonsense, but who knows.

The most likely issue, is probably that Morsy hasn't shown his best form for us, Warnock sees him as a squad member, and Morsy's old boss now at Ipswich has been texting him to come and lead his promotion charge.

Personally I don't think he is indispensable, he could easily be upgraded, but he would need replacing with a defensive minded midfielder just for sheer numbers.

Lea Siliki is a CM would be a big upgrade on Morsy.
Would he? I'll take your word. Might take a while for him to settle in though so don't really see swapping him in and Morsy out as a good move at this stage of the season. How about having them both rather than maintaining a wafer thin central midfield? Now that does sound like a good idea!

Sam Morsy’s Middlesbrough future in the balance, with midfielder keen to stay

Sam Morsy has interest from elsewhere but is keen to stay at Middlesbrough - Dom Shaw reports

Sam Morsy’s Middlesbrough future is in the balance, with the player keen to stay but with several Championship clubs interested.

Ipswich Town are also in for the midfielder, but Teesside Live understands that move is unlikely. While Morsy has a great relationship with his former boss Paul Cook, at 29 and having been a Championship regular for a number of seasons, a move to a club currently sitting at the wrong end of the League One table isn’t seen as a wise career step at this stage.

At least three Championship clubs are known to be monitoring Morsy’s situation.

At no stage has Morsy pushed for a move. Indeed, it’s understood he remains happy at the club and is still committed to the targets he set when he joined the club and at the start of this season - winning promotion on Teesside.

Morsy is understood to know that he is not guaranteed a regular starting spot this season but relishes the challenge of battling for a spot in the team. He has started three of Boro’s five Championship games so far and has a good relationship with boss Neil Warnock.

But with Boro looking to create some wriggle room to further strengthen their squad in the final days of the window, Morsy is one of the players in the squad whose availability was made known to other clubs.

Preston, Sheffield United and Luton are thought to be keeping a close eye on developments ahead of tomorrow’s 11pm deadline, and while Morsy wants to stay, matters could be taken out of his hands if a bid is accepted. Warnock wouldn’t want to lose Morsy without having a replacement in place. James Lea Siliki is one target.

Boro are looking to be busy in the final hours, with the Andraz Sporar deal set to be wrapped up. Warnock could yet look for another attacker and wants a left-sided defender.

If someone offers silly money then maybe.
As long as at least some of that money gets sensibly reinvested in this window.
Otherwise keep the guy.
I like him, he does good work, and his attitude is spot on.

This reminds me of when the Club sold Bamford, OK on a different level, but my head is telling me Morsey is useful player, he wants to stay and fight, so why sell to bring in someone untried in the Championship. Which is how I thought about Bamford. We even negotiated a poor price with Bamford.

Middlesbrough FC you have a Championship proven player please don't swap him for the unproven.

Not bothered now we have Siliki. Morsy can go for me but if he stays then fairplay to him he will have to work and hard and be better than he has been to get in the team.

I think Morsy is probably the PFA rep rather than the source of covid conspiracy.

Utter nonsense. He has a contract. If he wants to stay, he stays.

Gone -- NW just didn't rate him. IMO.

To be fair he was third or 4th choice signing at the time I remember a couple of lads were before Morsy in the que. I agree Warnock doesn’t rate him that much. And neither do I. Which I am surprised about as I was sure he was going to be a good signing but in my opinion top of league 1 is probably his level

Very surprised and disappointed by this news, Morsy is a proper top Championship pro who I think we will regret moving on. We are taking a massive risk that this new guy is up to the job as his replacement. Not feeling confident for our promotion chances at the moment unless we have another good midfield signing to come in.
