Sam Morsy to Ipswich?

Do you need a Morsy type though? Would rather an athletic type capable of covering ground and anticipating without having to make niggling fouls. Siliki seems to fit the bill. Hopefully something in it.
Clayton did basically that for a few years during our most successful period in this league and he was regularly hammered on here as being limited/sideways passer/no goal threat and a yellow card waiting to happen. It just so happens that we had a sustained period of controlling the midfield, being very difficult to play against and conceding very few goals, I'd welcome a return to that. I think we a Morsy 'type' in the squad, probably not to play always, but it is sometimes a battle of attrition in the Championship and we don't have the skill and guile to win that battle without the dark arts of the fouling niggler in my opinion.

QPR and Bristol ran through our midfield like it wasn't there according to many on here. That suggests we do need a niggling fouling type at times to do a job, until we impose our silky passing game with Payero or someone playing there.

Howson has looked woeful in 80% of his games since January I think it would be a bit preemptive to punt Morsy and assume someone untried will step in and deliver the goods and Howson/McNair can provide adequate support/cover.

1.5 points per game with; 1.3 ppg without.

Not exactly promotion form either way.
I think it would be really difficult to make a comparison last season as Fry, Dijksteel and Tav were all out for long periods too and were probably our three best players last year.

I think Morsy obviously is limited, but be he gives other players more license to roam and influence the game.

It will be really interesting to see who (if any) of the forwards linked come in, as this will have a strong bearing on whether we go 3 or 4 at the back I assume. And also if we play with three CM's or two CM's and and extra forward/winger/attacker type.

I would take a chance. Morsy doesn’t cut it for me. Says it all a league 1 team in for him.

Our best player yesterday - full of invention and looking to push us forward. His red card was a joke and will surely be overturned on appeal. Would be very disappointed if we sold him in the back of that

Definitely not a red. So if its with Boro or Ipswich he won't be suspended for next match.

I'm sure if it gets overturned then it's our last 3 reds rescinded? Just shows the how bad the officials are.

This is a very good point. We'll it is if we are averaging more rescinded reds than other teams.

Keep for insurance. Malley is far from ready and we've no I idea how good Siliki is. If Morsy is kept out of the team by Siliki then we've lost nothing and we can let him go to Ipswich in january or preferably the end of the season.

Clayton, at his best, is in another league to Morsy. I like Morsy though, he's got a bit of needle about him and a will to win, but sometimes you need more than that in your locker, especially if you have ambitions of competing at the top of the table.

I don't think it would be too hard to replace Morsy and I think the championship is his glass ceiling if i'm honest.

Plodder, he's a top League One player, but he's just far too slow at moving the ball, has poor decision making and very limited creativity. He's an honest pro and puts the effort in but players like him are two a penny in the lower leagues
