Sam Morsy - Three Year Deal

With fletch and Britt on thier final year I suspect wel have 2 strikers in by the time the window shuts .
The possibility of the league being cancelled will contribute to us not spending to our potential in this window .
Nah, we’re bringing in four players before the window closes and we’ll be bringing in replacements should anyone leave on top of that.

Aynsley Pears is in his final year and will be looking for first team football. I can see him going to Blackburn.
Blackburn have recently signed a new number one so think he'd be going there as back up. I don't think Warnock even see's him as a back up keeper for us.

I live down near pompey and the local rag seems to say Bass is staying and close to a new deal. I know that don't mean anything😂

Woodrow from Barnsley would be a decent signing. He's quick and playes on the shoulder. I think he'd cost a few quid especially to another champo side.

M123 - I was thinking this too, some teams could spend everything and still have to pay contracts in a second complete lock down - its looking like a 50% chance now with reported infections rates rising quickly yesterday.

We have taken around £160k/week off the wage bill and only added £30k/week - so financially despite lower ticket and sponsorship revenue we are in a better place than before lock down.

Will be gutted if Morsy does not sign. I know money is tight, but we keep getting in for these players they seem to come up here, get treated well at the hotel and training ground then their agents use our offers to get their players a better deal somewhere else. Clearly other teams can stretch a little more than we are prepared to financially. I find it a little disconcerting for sure. Lets hope this week has better news soon regarding Morsy and a few others.

I wonder if we are there or thereabouts with wages, but losing out on length of contract... I think Goode, Moore and Williams signed 4 year deals with their new clubs. I assume we only offered 3 max.

If there is a second lockdown or crowds are not back in stadiums by halfway through the season I think there would have to be some sort of bail out from the PL or league or somewhere - most lower league clubs would go bust and a fair few in the champo too

I didn't say Hall was on £30k - Brown, Bola, Stubbs have returned from loans on top of Hall, so we have to pay their wages. Maybe £25k is more realistic when I look at it in detail. £14k plus £4k plus £4k plus £3k?

Outs (Approx wages saved per week)

Gestede £24k
Ayala £24k
Friend £20k
Clayton £18k
Shotton £18k
Morrison £12k
Roberts £15k
Nchema £12k
Moukoudi £15k

Now I would say around £158k saved less £25k = £133k/week. I admit its an educated guess, before anyone says Red Wurzel where is the precise evidence?

Extra costs - Some of the old managerial team are probably receiving some payment. There is an extra member of the managerial team. Some of the younger players would have been offered better contracts.

Never thought about the implications of another lock-down

Redwurzel, looking at some of those wages and we got from the individuals, it's crazy. Morrison, supposedly last chance saloon for hi career and we paid him that? no wonder some players show no hunger

Couldn't agree more, one day he may sit down & realise what a fool he's been, but then again, he's probably made enough money throughout his career that he's not bothered

Hope so. He looked shocking the other week in the cup.

Surely Ayala, Clayton and Gestede were amongst our top earners given they signed their last deals in the prem. Considering the state of the squad I can’t even imagine hearing the club saying we need to cut the wage bill further but I’m already expecting them to say it next year like they do every year.

Woodrow would be a excellent signing but would like Murphy or Roberts too.

I'm sure i read QPR offered him £12k p/w, so I'd guess we'll have offered him around half of that £30k figure!
I though he was on £12k a week at QPR and the new deal they offered him was £8k. So presumably we offered him more than £8k, maybe near the £12k he was on
