Ross Stewart

Stewart is a very very good player. He would suit us down to the ground. Presses for a full 90, scores all kinds of goals, can hold the ball up. Lots of people underestimating him here.
And as I mentioned, it would weaken a play-off rival too, as long as we don't bankrupt ourselves to get him. McNair and a bit of cash would be ideal for us, Barlaser in for £500k-£750k to replace Luguno and McNair in the squad, with Fisher back from injury too should see us right hopefully.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, for us to be paying towards £10M or more for a player would be ridiculous and unnecessary. That's what the likes of Stewart or Gyokeres would cost. We would be much better scouting and bringing in the Akpom's, Forss' and Hoppe's of this world.

I'd not expect to see Fisher in a Boro shirt again. Might get a youngish RB in though to push Smith

Is anyone else a little uneasy paying the mackems 10 mil for a glorified league one striker.

Or am I being too harsh.
I agree
I think Simms is better as a prospective player than Stewart
Simms looks robust, cool in front of goal, natural finisher and looks full of belief
Everton wouldn’t probably release him but still, he’s all around a better player than Stewart

Apparently Sunderland have an option to add another year on him, which makes these reports a little surprising to me.

But then we have no idea what his current contract has in it, or how keen Sunderland are to get some money in. It seems we're offering him bigger money than Sunderland too.

The stories about him moving seem to be persisting so I think a move is in the cards and whatever we pay it will be within our budget and not anywhere near£10m.

I can't say I agree that he will improve our first team.
Me too ! Is he better than forss ????
Forss is quicker, works incredibly hard and can score goals
Stewart doesn’t have that pace so would have to be brilliant in his hold up play (and he isn’t) and prolific in front of goal (which he isn’t)
Baffling for me….

Think Keith Downie is getting the rumour mill churning. It’s his job, gives him airtime. Stewart won’t be coming to Boro, he’s their key player, they’re in the play off mix and they have an extra year option. Would cost more than we would pay. Next.

Simms is a better investment than Stewart.
You get a lot of effort from Stewart, but Simms is a Rolls Royce of a player.
Everton may need to sell to buy, given their current predicament, definitely worth a cheeky bid. 👍

I can't see us spending 10mil on one player. Those days are happily gone and we are far better for it.

We don't have any dross sat on 4 year 30k a week contracts. Then they leave for nothing because we can't move them on. The wage bill and turnover of profit is massively improved in this year's accounts (although still high).

I'd rather we strengthen a few areas of we have a few quid to spend. You can get decent champo players for 2-3mil

Hopefully a better Jan than last year. I'd be tempted to stay clear of the 'next big things' playing for prem U23s. They seldum work and find it a real step up in quality. They actually get tackled for a start 😂

Stewart is decent. I'm not sure 10mil decent. Especially with contract situation. I think we have enough in Akpom / Forss and Watmore. I'm not remotely convinced about Hoppe. He probably needs a loan. I'd rather have Coburn.

Errrr
We are effectively bankrupt
The only chance SG has of getting any of his investment back is to get us back in the prem

In for a penny in for a pound eh?

I would rather take a punt on Jerry Yeats from Blackpool. Scored more Champo goals than Stewart.

Simms is decent but Stewart is a far better player
