Yeah I love him as well, I don't think I have seen a striker but so much effort in as he has for Boro, but his consistency with finishing is the issue. He can go on a run without scoring and missing guilt edge chances, but then one game can score twice, or score an absolute beauty of a goal from nowhere.

I would keep him as an option if he was happy with it.

I would want Watmore to stay. I think Coburn will go on loan, and I can see the sense in that.

However, would Watmore be 5th or 6th choice striker? If we're getting down to 6th, it is possible his place in the squad could be better used to add depth elsewhere.

He's not 3rd or 4th choice now, why would he be 5th or 6th?

He was our only striker picked the other night. Sure he's not consistent as a scorer but neither are the others that we've brought in, or Akpom.
 
I know wilder has said Akpom is "part of the group" but i still wouldn't be surprised if he were to leave. Only has 1 year left and can't imagine we would give him another contract given where we hope to be, so if he receives a decent 2 or 3 year offer could see him pushing for the move.

We have the option of another year on Akpom.

i think he'll be here short term i don't see significant offers coming in. if say his form dipped and he struggles to get appearances then he'd probably be off on loan in january. at the moment though even if we brought in 2 strikers i think he'd still be in contention

I'm basing that on Muniz and one other coming in. After that, I don't think we've brought Forss and Hoppe in to play in the reserves. I do see Watmore being below all 4 in the pecking order. Akpom is flavour of the month, but I don't know where he really fits in the big picture. So 5th or 6th he would be.

As for Wednesday, Akpom was injured and Forss was rested. 3rd choice on the rotation then.

Nobody probably bothered going in the box when he was there, was a waste of time, as he'd get on the end of it.
 
It looks like this is the 2nd of theb3 premier league strikers we were after so it’s not bad going really . The 3rd one may not happen if we’re after Riis or Larsen .
I think fans should be abit more chuffed than their are over our summer transfer activity 🫣

He could be 3rd or 4th choice after Forss and Hoppe have been here more than a couple of weeks, and with Akpom fit.

I don't think many people doubted we would have made good signings by the end of the window. In my case my issue was with the timing. I didn't want to get to the end of August (7 games into the season) and be 10 points off the pace and giving ourselves too much to do. 4 games without a win, 6 points off top and already knocked out of the league cup is kind of proving the point that the squad wasn't ready when the season kicked off. If we get everyone we want then I think we will have a squad good enough for promotion. We might not get promotion with that squad if we have given everyone else a head start. Hopefully we can get a few wins soon and that isn't the case.
