RIP Jack Charlton

The night we won the league at Kenilworth road Jack told the lads to concede a late goal so we could win the leage at AP, but the players refused.

I also heard a story about him getting the NI players out of bed before a world cup game, in Mexico as I recall, at 2 am and making them drink guiness. This may be apocraphyl though.

Absolutely heart broken. I knew the day would come, but when I first heard the news, I shed a tear or two.
Jack will always be a hero, a club legend. He turned a bunch of footballers into an organised, well drilled unit where everyone knew their job. He built not just a team or a legacy, he built my hopes, my dreams, my love for Boro and the beautiful game itself. I owe it all to Jack. I can not put into words how sad I feel right now. I know he will keep a weather eye on the Boro from on high.

R.I.P Big Jack. Thanks for the memories. God bless x

Before my time, but I know how much of a legend he was..... I also remember the fantastic reception he got from our fans at half time - during the Brighton promotion game in 2016. RIP Jack

In my dad's eyes he was always Jack Charlton Boro manager, then Jack Charlton World Cup winner and finally Bobby's brother, always made me smile that he thought of him as Boro manager first, not world Cup winner.

What sad news that is this morning.

WE ALL LOVE JACK.

Rob/Borolad, can we have wee gords thread fixed to the top of the board and perhaps collate all of our messages of love, hope and dreams to to The Charlton family - nothing intrusive, just to let them know that the man brightened up our lives and is forever in our hearts.

"Aye, Aye, Aye-Aye, Charlton is better than Stokoe"

Rest In Peace Jack.

Very sad news indeed. A top player and inspirational manager. A down to earth north eastern lad who worked hard to escape the pits and become a World Cup winning hero yet he never forgot his roots.
As a player and manager he had great success on the national and international stage. He was a personality, lapped up by tv. An astute tactician and innovative coach. He made so many magical memories and changed so many lives but never lost the common touch.
A true football great and also a one off as a man.
RIP Big Jack
