RIP Borobarmy

So vey sad, what a lovely, kind, gentle, caring lad he was. Eternal Rest and God love you Sean. Condolences to the family.
Absolutely spot on. When I saw the post about him being a recently retired firefighter called Sean who was indeed Borobarmy, 2 names sprung to mind. I found out just a little bit later who it was. I was at Grangetown, when Sean first became operational, albeit on a different watch. A few years later, I was on the same watch but at a nearby station, but we frequently worked together. Sean was indeed a lovely lad, he always, always seemed to have a smile on his face and never had a bad word to say about anyone. All of his many friends in the Fire Service are absolutely devastated by his passing. There was a large meeting at Middlesbrough Fire Station yesterday and before anything was started there was a minutes silence, in memory of Sean. I'm getting a bit upset now, so I'll end by simply saying RIP Brother.

THANKYOU for all your memories, kind words and expressions of condolence. I have shared the forum with family members who found that your posts brought them some comfort when reading them especially last night when they couldn't sleep. I read all the posts to our elderly mum today who was overwhelmed (in a good way) by your responses, especially when I explained that most of you hadn't met or didn't know Sean personally. I think Sean would have been really touched by all your responses i know i am, he always said that FMTTM was a special community .
Sean died after collapsing in Osbournes bar Yarm and despite efforts by staff and paramedics he never regained consciousness. I still can't believe it has happened. We take comfort that he was in a place he enjoyed being in surrounded by friends.

It would be nice if we could all pay our respects to Borobarmy and send a wreath from us all. We would only need to chip a couple of quid each - I wonder if Rob would be willing to take charge of this.
Thankyou for the kind thought Norman Conquest but you have all shown your respect by posting such lovely tributes

Sean was very proud to be a fireman. I remember him talking about his time at Grangetown and as with most jobs they were the Good old days We saw the minutes silence online . Very moving.

I haven't been on here for a couple of days so have just seen this. Reading through the comments demonstrates the high regard in which Sean was held here. Sounds like those that knew him in real life felt the same way too.

As another long-time FMTTM poster like your brother, while I don't think I ever had any direct connection with him, I will certainly notice his absence here going forward.

Please accept my condolences etmfc, Sean, you and your mum are in my thoughts.

RIP Borobarmy.

Saw this last week, but had to wait for my account to be approved. So saddened and gutted at the news of Sean's passing. We met up (with Blondie DCFC) at a few FMTTM do's a long time ago and sent each other jokes via email (when it was a thing) for a while. He was a top bloke. RIP Sean.

@etmfc:
Thankyou for sharing your awfully sad news with us on here, couldn’t have been easy.

I’m sorry for my delayed response, I wasn’t around these parts in December so completely missed this thread. I felt compelled to add my condolences and tribute too in the hope it helps a little.

I only just found out approx an hour ago, after I asked where borobarmy was cos I hadn’t seen any posts from him lately.
Please accept my belated condolences to you, your Mum, family and friends luvvie.

Have just spent time reading all the lovely tributes to your Sean/borobarmy on this thread.
Shows how highly thought of he was and genuinely a great fella too, both as a poster and in real life as well.
Am very glad reading the posts out to your Mum gave her, other family members and you some comfort.

Am truely shocked and fair upset to hear of his passing. Taken far too young, 55 is no age.
From what you said tho, he was enjoying his early retirement in the company of friends he loved when he was taken. Like you say, that has also given yous comfort that he was in a place he loved surrounded by people he loved.

I met Sean a coupla times at Dr Brown’s after match Doos in the early 2000’s. He was really welcoming, kind & very funny too, totally living up to his truely great FMTTM persona. He was well loved.

I wish you, your Mum & Sean peace etmfc, sending yous massive healing & caring hugs all the way from Derby……..XOXO
RIP Sean/borobarmy 😘

I too have missed this news, I am really shocked and saddened. Borobarmy was a really good poster, clearly loved the Boro and will be greatly missed. He had a lovely playful sense of Humour and good banter. I always enjoyed reading his posts.

RIP Borobarmy, I will raise a glass in your honour tonight.

I also somehow missed this and am shocked and saddened to read such awful news. It just shows how great a community it is on here when someone who you've never even met passes on and it hits you right in the gut. Borobarmy was a brilliant poster and if I remember rightly always had kind words for me during my darker hours.

My sincerest condolences to you and the family etmfc, may he rest in peace in the utopia of the Holgate in the Sky.
