Red Faction

I was a bit confused / concerned by the pre kick off display.
In a time of great racial tension - the born here - raised here mantra was a bit off for me.
Can’t you support the Boro if you were not ‘born here’? Is there something less about people not ‘born here’.
Thought today was a perfect opportunity for anti racism - Middlesbrough a place for all people - whatever their race, colour heritage. Instead we got ‘Born here - raised here’ - not great for me and definitely music to the xenophobic anti people of colour fans.
People of colour is a mad term for me.

It you are not a person of colour.. you are a ghost.

Only ghosts should be able to say people of colour.. it makes no sense otherwise.

Must admit, wasn’t expecting to see the thread take some of the turns it has from opening it and reading through.

I thought the banner was excellent and loved Infant Hercules being played prior to kick off - definitely should be played on a more regular basis!

Well done to The RF! Outstanding as usual! 👏

As wrong as it is/was that's not a football matter though and not for the RF to unravel a banner about inside a football stadium 🤷‍♂️
Understand what you mean, but football can be a very powerful means of bringing people together. Red Faction taking a stand against racism is the way to go.

Love Boro. Hate Racism.

I think racism is probably the wrong word, maybe xenophobia was more of the threat if it was taken the wrong way, locally or nationally. All be it the riots in boro were racist and xenophobic.

Born here, raised here could also been seen as being very inclusive for the decedents of immigrants, so it could work both ways.

Yeah, I don't think it has been picked up in the media or taken out of context which is good, but not sure how visible it's been nationally. Hopefully it stays that way (y)

Just a bit concerned after recent events, and don't want to be giving the outsiders more sticks to beat boro down with etc.
I have an idea what the W in your name stands for ?

Well the Swansea manager commented positively on the atmosphere this time, instead of slagging us off, so that's praise indeed!

He didn't comment on the banner though 😁

I think the born here raised here relates to most Boro fans being from the Teesside area, opposed to say Man United who fans are all around the World and tend to just support them because they are fashionable to support. The RF local bit is not based on a particular race, religion or skin colour. My guess is the vast majority of Boro fans from an historic ethnic Asian background were actually born on Teesside, particularly those under 50.

Maybe a future banner could be two Boro kitted arms in a hand shake - one with white skin and one with brown skin - With the slogan "All Brothers of the Boro"

Btw Red Faction do a fantastic job of empowering and bringing young people together in a positive way.

Hello, hello. What's going on? What's all this shouting? We'll have no trouble here.

Red Faction would like to thank everybody who played a part in making Saturday’s display look as amazing as it did.

The time and effort that go into producing displays are huge, but so are the costs. The attached graphic breaks down the expenses involved. Anybody who would like to contribute to the tifo we did this past weekend as well as others in the future can donate via the go fund me or via PayPal.
