Red Faction - Ticket Price Statement

It’s not about who puts the most into the club, if that was the case, a couple sitting in the west upper, who buy a shirt every season and food/drink every game probably put £2k into the club every year, imagine if that gave them priority for tickets because of how much money they put in.

It’s not particularly expensive to go to Cardiff away on the club bus, but it’s 14 hours sat on a coach for 90 minutes of football. People doing that numerous times a season are rightly rewarded for their loyalty when it comes to bigger games
We only play there once a season, and it's a hobby whilst funding another club.

As regards the Older concession I can't believe any supporters would look to review that.
That's the one I feel most strongly about. I want to review it because I don't need it. I said I'd tolerate a benefit-based one. But I don't need it, just for being 60 and I don't think I will just for being 65. And neither do a lot of my contemporaries.

My kids need it more. They're struggling with mortgages and kids. They're far poorer on disposable income than I am now. And worse, they're far poorer on disposable income than I was then. I'll give you that our ticket prices are a matter for debate. They're high,. There's a case they should be more middling. I'll give you there's a case for giving pensioners on benefits a concession. I won't give you that there's any sort of case for giving rich pensioners a concession too. They (and, soon, me) don't need it and don't justify it. Our kids and out grandkids do. It's a total nonsense.

I had an ST for a while. I don't anymore. I would like to go to games but despite how well we are doing I can't stomach the walk up prices.

There is no point reducing walk up prices for the likes of me - I might only go to 2-3 games a season.

What would make me go to more games? £20 a ticket. But that is never happening.

I can afford to pay what they are charging now but I think it is too much so I don't pay it.

Utter nonsense. You have no idea what state the over 65 SC holder finances are in.
Just because you and your mates are fine does not mean they all are.
My Dad has been to Boro for the last 74 seasons. He has state pension and little savings.
I think he deserves the concession and lots of others too who you dismiss as not “needing it” in your opinion.

It's not nonsense though is it? It's not denied by individual examples. Either me or your dad. It's cold hard statistical fact that the 65+ cohort isn't, on average, poor any more.

I specifically said I'd like to see concessions based on benefits. I wouldn't like to stitch up your dad. But its a fact that the over 65s, on average, as a cohort, aren't below average any more. Plenty of them are. But as a cohort they aren't. They're the second richest group, after the ones just behind them. It's not just me and my mates, it's the statistical average.

Why should we ALL get a discount, ahead of our (on average) much poorer kids? That's what you have to justify.

TBH they are never gonna do away with concessions for OAPs, PR suicide.

...... an all out attack on people that watch Boro home and away and will therefore have to pay even more money.
I'm sorry Rob but that's rubbish - if I didn't tie in the occasional trip home in with a Boro match, it would cost me (depending on the time of year) over £1000 each time I want to watch my team - and I've done it three times this season so far. However, the difference is I don't expect to be able to get to every match I want to, unlike the "I'm all right, fck everyone else" Tories like Sexpom, Alexander Supetramp, Carrickball etc

Give over, I’m the furthest thing from a Tory. I commit most of my disposable income towards watching Middlesbrough it’s not like I’m some millionaire who can afford to just throw away good money and have it in abundance it’s my choice as you make yours to live away.

£1000. Hats off to you, if you haven’t already maybe you should join the airlines loyalty scheme for a few perks 👍

Swansea, Bristol, Norwich, Millwall, QPR, Reading, Watford, Luton all huge trips. It doesn’t matter if it’s a hobby that’s still a serious level of commitment which is rightly rewarded by the club.
It’s fairly simple, if you want to go to the most popular games be prepared to travel to the more difficult ones, if you don’t then you risk missing out

The EFL / FA [or whoever it is] could lift the cap on tickets for away fans.
Many of the clubs we visit could fit their home fans in the away end [see Blackburn / Huddersfield / Wigan / Blackpool / Rotherham / etc].
Get them to "shift up" and move the netting a few blocks.
We`l sell out away - every game, when we get promotion this season

I think season ticket costs should be higher so walk ups can be lower. Season ticket holders are being subsidised. Pensioners as well shouldn't be getting discounts. They aren't the poorest demographic anymore. They have the same disposable income in average as working age people.

Anyone I ever see argue that it is acceptable that walk ups are priced so highly so we can compete in the transfer market is almost always a season ticket holder and paying less than £20 per game. They should be happy to see their costs increase significantly.

If they think that prices have to be high because "that's business" then I don't understand how they can think that season tickets shouldn't be an extra £5 per game. Any other business understands that attracting new customers is the hardest thing to do which is why they all have discounts. The most loyal customers will pay whatever so it doesn't even make good business sense to give them the biggest discount. Mental that people that would pay £40 if they had to are getting in for less than £20. Do we not employ anyone that understands price elasticity?
What quicker way to p*** off the people who provide you with guaranteed income every year than to ask them to pay an extra £115 so the club can lower prices for people who might come to matches 🙄

Your idea about a benefits based system would be difficult to manage, at present you either qualify for a concession or you don't whereas you can drop in and out of being in receipt of benefits.

How do the club decide if you are a rich pensioner or not ?.
