Red Faction disgraceful today

They look good. However, to do anything that puts others at risk is unacceptable. Having said that lifetime bans are a touch draconian, for arguments sake, say the person who took the flare into the ground is a lad/lass in their 20s, can many of us say that we’ve never done anything stupid?
I would be incandescent (love that word!) with rage if I was sat anywhere near that with my kids.

I dare say that the Red Faction are well known for big displays noise and pyro.. folks sitting in that area will be well aware of what goes on. I'm guessing the organisation ensured that the chap or lady holding the flare was surrounded by Red Factionites creating a barrier between the hard core, the hangers on and the wannabes.. safe as you can realistically get and sensible in the circumstances.

There has been an incident where a smoke bomb was set off in the concourse at an away game.. very much a different kettle of fish.. but still indicative for the fans lust for pyro at football games. I do not think this should be completely ignored by the club or voted down or voted against by so called supporters groups that are mostly inactive and fail to contribute to the overall fan experience.

Even if the club loves pyros and wants them at every game....they are illegal.
So I'm not sure what you expect them to do.
Maybe we should follow the Burnley model and advertise for a new drummer.
Or up the ante and go for a male voice choir (non-males or undisclosed welcome to apply).

It's a three year ban for pyros, the club posted this reminder the other day

exactly, if the club advocate them the ground could get shut down by the police. If someone gets injured by them and the club advocate their use, then the club could get sued in fact members of the board could go to prison.

I get that mate, surrounded by like minded people etc. bans are too much though, perhaps a fine which goes to a local charity?
One pyro looks sad as ****.

MFC Foundation.. although the club does benefit from these displays overall.
Interesting this from 15th March 2018 fans' groups vote to back club pyro ban - seems to suggest that it was a choice rather than it being illegal

A motion was raised at the MSF - a umbrella group covering a variety of fans’ organisations including the Official Supporters Club, Twe12th Man, Red Faction, Fly Me To The Moon fanzine, Red Army TV, the Disabled Supporters Association and Middlesbrough Supporters’ South - by chairman Chris Joseph and the meeting was addressed by Mark Ellis, Boro’s chief operating officer who is responsible for the running of the stadium.

Official Supporters Club - never heard of it
Twe12th Man - a few quiet north stand blokes
Red Faction - abstained
Fly Me To The Moon fanzine - Rob
Red Army TV - sounds like a good idea, but I don't think they do much with it. so like a small podcast clique
Disabled Supporters Association - fair enough, if flares or displays have not taken them into consideration
Middlesbrough Supporters’ South - I'm assuming mainly traveling fans possibly more away games than home?

I'm just saying to explore the possibility and the alternatives.. a compromise agreement perhaps. Not sure who represents Red Faction or honestly why they left MSF.. i'd like to think there was method in the madness. Any sort of protest seems to have fell short and any message has been clouded.. by the fantastic plumes of red smoke.

Being covered on Talksport now following an incident at a Rangers game last night where the stadium fire alarm actually went off.

Jordan's reply .. kick them out (the people involved)

They should be kicked out, I can’t believe those defending the perpetrators from the weekend.

A minority of the red faction have shown time and time again how selfish they are.

It isn't a choice.

And from the Sporting Events Act 1985:

Fireworks etc.
(1)A person is guilty of an offence if he has an article or substance to which this section applies in his possession—
(a)at any time during the period of a designated sporting event when he is in any area of a designated sports ground from which the event may be directly viewed, or
(b)while entering or trying to enter a designated sports ground at any time during the period of a designated sporting event at the ground.
(2)It is a defence for the accused to prove that he had possession with lawful authority.
(3)This section applies to any article or substance whose main purpose is the emission of a flare for purposes of illuminating or signalling (as opposed to igniting or heating) or the emission of smoke or a visible gas; and in particular it applies to distress flares, fog signals, and pellets and capsules intended to be used as fumigators or for testing pipes, but not to matches, cigarette lighters or heaters.
(4)This section also applies to any article which is a firework.]

He’s been trolling throughout this thread, his whataboutery knows no bounds either.

even a broken clock like Jordan is right twice a day

Be interesting to see if 'the group' who hid under the banner are going to throw their fellow pyro holding supporter under the bus or have his back

Despite their efforts to hide him the CCTV looks to have done its job

All for one and one for all isn’t, so I would think that block will be empty tomorrow.

Can't see them being banned myself
The one with the pyro will 100% face some sort of serious sanction. It can't be a minor slap on the wrist or suspension as it needs to be a strong action to send a message to others and be a proper deterrent otherwise others might think it's worth copying in future.

Think of the recent fan ban for coming on the pitch, this is arguably much more serious than that incident.
