Putin to recognise the independence of two breakaway regions in eastern Ukraine

I know its unlikely to happen but let's say Putin has grand ambitions of reclaiming the Baltic States and then fancies a bit of Poland as well. What will the likely response be from NATO? And, would would be the likely end result?

I'm guessing we'd see ground combat with NATO members fighting the Russians, would the Russian military be overrun and forced to retreat?

It worries me that if it gets worse then things could escalate really quickly, are nuclear weapons a real deterrent or could we actually see them being used?

I don’t think Nuclear weapons will be used but the fact that he has basically said Ukraine can acquire nuclear weapons, means he’s already lining up an excuse to use his

Last thought for you. Do you think Johnson and his corrupt henchman will now give up one Rouble of the tens of billions they have laundered through London in the past decades? All of a parcel.
London has been laundering money for decades, not a Johnsonian innovation. It is, for me, a very different ‘parcel’.

An attack one is an attack on all

If NATO decide to go toe to toe with Russia, their forces would soon fall apart. He probably realises that. Then the nuclear option would be Putins last card. Would he press the button. I think he might try, just before one of his own generals puts a bullet between his ears.

Mankind looks beyond salvation if that's where we land.

I wonder what they would do if someone took him out?

Long game on this is, for me, Taiwan. China really wants Taiwan back & how this plays out could determine what happens there.
Also Russia pushing it's agenda in South America . Argentinean President met with Putin a few weeks ago & basically begged for aid ( at a time when they are meant to make a huge payment to the IMF ) . It was the Russians who gave a lot of vaccinations to S. America too.
With democracy really starting to stumble and increasingly grim " who shouts the loudest' style of politics in the West I am not too hopeful.
Makes the 1990's & the Blur v. Oasis battle seem like a happy dream.

There was no battle - oasis won hands down

This is the truth, for both sides (West vs Russia/China), it feels just like a toe in the water for the real conflict. China is watching with hawk eyes to see how united the West's response is. If the US is really prepared to stand up for Taiwan, this conflict is where they have to show their hand.

Over to you Messyrs Biden, Johnson et al.

Their response will, no doubt be something to behold - NOT.

Biden promised the USA that Putin feared him because he would go toe to toe with him.

Some proper fruit cakes in charge of some big countries these days.

Doesn't bode well for mankind.

In a football context, it's going to be farcical that the Champions League final will be held in a country that's currently participating in the invasion of another UEFA nation, whilst under sanctions from many other UEFA members.

There's no way it should still be held in St. Petersburg.
