No it's a common thing to do. Indeed the lawyers would be negligent if they didn't. I know it seems odd but they are covering all the bases.

The yanks love a bit of that. It seems odd to countries with a proper legal system. I didn't kill him, but if the jury thinks I did then its self defence. There is no logic on that at all
