Premier League to restart in June (Rumour)

I read yesterday that they are several PL clubs that want the season to be cancelled due to health fears, players contracts, etc. The same article also mentioned that players are questioning the restart of football and how they can be kept safe.

presumably not the ones out getting ***ed, crashing cars, or inviting hookers back to theirs for parties ?

It's actually a good plan I think and makes complete sense. It will allow clubs to fulfil fixtures and more importantly to them gain the revenue from TV. Also, it will give a sports mad country something else to think about.

Not sure what will happen with the Championship, League One or Two mind.

June is definitely the target - I hadn’t heard that it was going to be at one venue. Let’s see what happens , I’m not a supporter of the restart until this situation is better. Health above money!!!

Football without fans there is a pretty meaningless exercise if you ask me - it’s a slap in the face for loyal fans if they can’t go watch their teams play. It would just underline how under valued supporters are now

Would those fans with season tickets be due a refund or a discount on the following season's ticket? Or will clubs simply tell them to get lost. ?

I would expect clubs to be insured for certain scenarios, whether pandemics are covered might be a moot point though. Many of us are awaiting a decision on away game ticket refunds still as Boro are refusing to do so presently, they have said they will look to be reasonable to fans though.

Many ST holders may well be unable to attend next season let alone this as they live in households that have members of the family that are in vulnerable groups and need shielding or indeed they may be vulnerable themselves. I hope the club does not penalise current ST holders who can’t attend until a vaccine is administered to them or their family member(s). In my opinion the club should be allowing a 1 season special break clause so they don't lose their seat or early bird option and other benefits through having to protect their family or indeed themselves. It would show goodwill to fans in a time of great uncertainty.

Leak of a Whatsapp message from Bristol Rovers manager Ben Garner to his squad suggests EFL season to end. No relegation but 3 promoted from each league and to Premier League.

No fans into stadia until Jan 2021

Better than the current solution, though the lack of relegation will lead to fixture congestion with 6 extra matches.

Football has to be governed by the current situation we face.
It's now being reported that the Cheltenham festival led to the spread of coronavirus.
Football has a responsibility to the people of this country.
Health is the most important aspect of all this for the clubs, player's and fans and most importantly the services that would drain availability elsewhere.
I hope football sees sense. I don't hold my breath though.

Yep I listened to that earlier on twitter. Seemed legitimate enough too.

Certainly yes with three extra teams you'd have to cancel the carabao cup next season
You would and its almost certainly what would happen. Amazes me that any Boro fans would happily see this scenario play out, and the one major trophy we have ever won effectively be cast aside (probably forever), when the new season could actually just start at a much later date when its safe to do so, after finishing the current season first.
