Premier League to restart in June (Rumour)

Finish the current season when it's safe to do so. I doubt that will be in June.
Uefa are putting pressure on because they would rather this season is scrapped to protect next season and the euros.
As far as I'm concerned they can take until September.

Every player should have the right to say NO.
When its still not safe, why should any footballer put himself, his kids, his family and friends lives at risk.
You can kick a ball anytime but sooner forget that rather than burying someone you love.

How do you figure that?

UEFA basically threatened the leagues to discourage them from ending early.

Why is football getting the blame for what should be a government directive and decision, I’m aware other sporting organisations have made choices about abandoning future events but others have not and their reasoning is that they will follow the advice given by the Government, as far as I can see, at present all clubs and the FA are doing is putting plans in place if they are told they are safe to continue given certain criteria are met.

There’s talk of fairness, in an ideal world the league would be completed in front of fans and champions, promotions, relegations etc would be decided on that basis, for me whilst far from ideal, if it’s safe to do so, then completion of the league without fans is the next fairest method. If they believe that playing all the games at St George’s Park is the safest and most practical solution then fair enough, but they must meet and surpass any safety guidelines set by the government, who should have the final say in all of this and be wholly accountable.

For me playing the FA Cup 1/4 finals as a trial run to test the practicalities of continuation is by far the most sensible and practical way if the go ahead is given.

Leak of a Whatsapp message from Bristol Rovers manager Ben Garner to his squad suggests EFL season to end. No relegation but 3 promoted from each league and to Premier League.

No fans into stadia until Jan 2021
I can’t see how the can legally promote teams - there would be a litigation circus.

I don't see why there would be a litigation circus. I assume all the teams in the league have to abide by the rules and regulations of the league, and one of them will be that the league's decision is final. Courts are reluctant to involve themselves in sports issues, and if some club does try litigation, the league has the force majeure of the Coronavirus pandemic to support its actions. No club is going to be disadvantaged by being relegated, so really - all in all - the best solution is to end the season today. Top three teams in each division promoted, with one extra relegated for the next three seasons from the Prem League and League 2 until the normal number is restored.

It probably will be the end of the League Cup, but that's been on life support for so long that's it's merciful.

let’s revisit this in a couple of months then, my bet is lawyers will be working overtime. I’ve said from the start on this there Is no good solution that will please everyone. For example your seemingly simplistic “promote the top three from each division” what do you think the likes of Brentford/aNotts Forest will have to say about that?
For me null and void is the best of a terrible bunch of options.

Yes it seems the league aren't even taking players feelings into account, those I've read of over the past few days who are wary of starting up again including Sergio Aguero and Glenn Murray, two players at two very different ends of the football spectrum.

According to that leaked message from Bristol Rovers pfa rep I would say they are hence the talk about ending the season and awarding promotion on merit.

Lol that’s funny as I was going to say that I can’t see the likes of aguero going anywhere near this.

footballers are by nature very self Centered and there’s one thing they value above anything (yes even more than money) else and that’s there health.

Is self centred the right description? I would say they are health obsessive which is different. Not all are of course. Those that drink to excess for example.

I meant it as they are centred around their own health but your right that is prob a better way of saying it.

Fulham? They'd be delighted I'd imagine.

Null and void is the simplest solution and they must have provision to do so (I am sure that there will be insurance in place to cover this).

I can't believe that they would take chances and put ANYBODIES health at risk or an extra burden on emergency services with some of the so called solutions mentioned in this thread, but football is all about the bottom line these days.
