Premier League to restart in June (Rumour)

Yes, I do.

I guess that any team in 4th in any league isn't going to be entirely happy. But if they put this to a vote, the three teams at the bottom of the Championship, the three at the bottom of League 1 and the three at the bottom of League 2 will outvote them. For all the teams in the middle it doesn't matter much.

Given it sounds like they're going to use a limited number of neutral venues if they do restart the Premier League, I wouldn't be surprised if they cancelled the EFL season as there surely wouldn't be the capacity or money to do that for 4 separate leagues at once.

Around 46 matches per matchday, no way to squeeze all of them in neutral venues with the proper precautions.

Football without fans there is a pretty meaningless exercise if you ask me - it’s a slap in the face for loyal fans if they can’t go watch their teams play. It would just underline how under valued supporters are now

Is it clubs to serve the fans OR fans to serve the clubs ? I’ve pretty much deduced it’s the latter 👎

“Footballers are self-centred”

By what rationale are they more self-centred than anyone else? They earn more than most. That’s the only conclusion you can draw about them without making assumptions and judgements.

Finish the current season when it's safe to do so. I doubt that will be in June.
Uefa are putting pressure on because they would rather this season is scrapped to protect next season and the euros.
As far as I'm concerned they can take until September.
What’s your solution to the contracts expiring?

One you advocate clubs continue to pay expensive contracts, such as gestede, in boro case at a time finances are tighter

Another you are saying that that you allow the contracts to expire, therefore changing the squads registered and therefore changing the competition

Both to me seem unreasonable.

Well wolves now have a drive through testing centre at their ground. If wolves can have one, then why is there not a drive through testing centre at every hospital in the country?

Null and void is the simplest solution and they must have provision to do so (I am sure that there will be insurance in place to cover this).

I can't believe that they would take chances and put ANYBODIES health at risk or an extra burden on emergency services with some of the so called solutions mentioned in this thread, but football is all about the bottom line these days.
Anybody's antibody's!

exactly, but it's an often repeated trope that premier league footballers are selfish, stupid and greedy. But that rhetoric has been played out in the right wing press for sometime now. The reality is that bar a smallish number of high profile cases, the vast majority of footballers are no less stupid or self centred than any other 20-something men. There are many stories of players giving time, donations to charities and wanting no press about it.

In fact since the mass importing of foreign players into Britain, I think the professionalism, intellect and altruism of footballers has increased. For every Ballotelli or Rooney there are 5 intelligent ones - Juan Mata (degree in Journalism), Vincent Kompany (MBA), Lukaku (speaks 6 languages fluently), Duncan Whatmore (Economics degree) etc. etc. Balotelli used to give cash to homeless people,Adebayor, Ronaldo and others paid for operations for people. Lukas Radobe set up his own charities to help educate people in his home town.

At our own club there are people that put a lot of personal time and effort into the community, they don't have to but want to. Can anyone accuse Friend, Dimi, Mustoe, Downing, Juninho, Fleming, Jimmy etc of being self-centred people? Come on stop buying into this nonsense.

Anyway back to the main topic, footballers are people too, they have families too. They didn't sign up to put their families at risk for the good of the nation. I don't think they should restart, until it is safe to do so, but the government would like to see it from a morale and PR perspective.

Agree with all of that. I don't understand the mass vilification of them as a collective. They're rich, that's literally all there is to it, but it doesn't make them terrible human beings.

I did go on to say I was referring self centred as in protective of their body ie centred around their own self preservation.

I meant it as they are centred around their own health but your right that is prob a better way of saying it.
See at took my original post out of context and you have done the same...

footballers are by nature very self Centered and there’s one thing they value above anything (yes even more than money) else and that’s there health.”

I agree this was never my point btw.
