We will see, I’ve seen our football go through many cycles in my lifetime, from boom in the 1960’s on the back of the World Cup win, to the rise of superpowers like Leeds and Liverpool in the 1970’s, the dark days of hooligans and deaths at matches and low crowds in the 1980’s, the renaissance after the Taylor Report with bigger crowds due to much better and safer facilities, the rise of the Sky clubs in the 2000’s and more recently the rise of the money clubs, foreign ownership and, in my opinion, a dip in the quality of the football on offer.
However, set against the decline in the football in the premier league I think the championship and the lower leagues were, pre COVID, as strong and well supported as I can remember.
Things change all the time, let’s see how things are in a few years, you may be surprised.
