Popular bands you dislike

Can't stand The Libertines. And that singer's about as edgy as Mary Whitehouse. One of the only bands I have to turn off if they ever come on the radio.

Also, I tried but just couldn't get into The Ramones.

Libertines were definitely zeitgeist but loads of great bands have been too (Sex Pistols anyone?) The Strokes were probably the one truly great band to come out of that era. White Stripes too but they were never really of any era (mid-1930s possibly?) :)

Kings of Leon went backwards when they stopped working with Ethan Johns in my opinion. I think he was much more than just a producer.

U2, I’ve always been fascinated at how they are so popular when I’ve never met anybody that likes them.

Foo Fighters. Let’s be real, If he hadn’t been in Nirvana, they wouldn’t have been given a second listen at the start. I know it’s a cliche thing to say but it’s the truth.

As for The Killers, I think their first album has some good songs but pretty much dreadful after that.

Liked by the edgy folks who like smack rat singers. See also Amy Winehouse.
Which proves how subjective it all is. Tony Bennett thought Winehouse was up there with the likes of Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughan.
Another example; as a non Beatles fan I disagree with others (and also it seems, with some fans) that they couldn't sing. In their earliest years the Beatles were writing songs that would these days be regarded as boy band material but in my opinion, If I Fell is one of the best executed pop songs ever recorded. I do like quite a few of their songs but I place The Stones higher in my opinion because they just excite me more.

Agreed.

There will never ever be a definitive best band or singer of all time which is what makes music so brilliant and beautiful.

Coldplay
Libertines
Arctic Monkeys
Imagine Dragons
Razorlight
Keane
Springsteen
Pink Floyd
Eric Clapton
The Smiths
Morrissey

That'll do for now.

Interesting. The Beatles and the Stones are the only 2 bands in a higher separate league to any others imho. After getting excited by their 1st albums I lost a bit of interest until Sgt Pepper and Beggars Banquet respectively and then they both went up further in my estimation once I started listening to bootlegs of their demos/ studio outtakes / rehearsals and witnessing the creative process as glimpsed in Get Back and Jean Luc Godards One Plus One movie.
