The Norwegians are a funny breed. They've been brought up watching a lot of English TV so they always comment on our poor weather. I keep telling them it's far better than here and Teesside is one of the driest places in England but they don't get it due to the English obsession of commenting on our weather.Yep you have to not mind rain too much to live in Bergen. The summer I was there was a bit rubbish. The weather was fantastic in most places, but often not in Bergen! I hiked in the mountains in July during constant lashing rain.
The TV was something I was quite surprised at. Loads of programmes in English with Norwegian subtitles. I planned learning some of the language but could literally speak English anywhere and in most situations. The Norwegians are a funny breed. This time I signed up for norwegian lessons when I started and was determined to learn the language. My enthusiasm lasted about 2 months as everybody speaks English. The TV was something I was quite surprised at. Loads of programmes in English with Norwegian subtitles. I even found an English themed pub in the city centre - Three Lions. The places was packed whenever Man United or Liverpool were on TV.
