Honeymoon in Cancun
Trip to las Vegas

Both incredible experiences.

Corfu (Kassiopi) for a family holiday. Fairly quiet harbour town on the north looking across to Albania. Just brilliant. Some lovely bars and restaurants and incredible food. Loved it so much we've been 3 times and intend to go next year. Finding somewhere the kids love going to for a holiday is a result IMO.

There 3 years ago. Loved it.

Been about 14 times. Kids now grown up , so book in kalami with a visit to Costas ( not coffee) always diarised. Have you visited Nikolas Taverna in Agni. I was going to put Agni down in my list but prefered to keep it secret. Best place on earth.

Turkey. First time I went was because we were a bit skint and it was cheap. Loved it. The place, the people, the food, all great.

Not been to either of those, not far from where we usually stay so will look out for them next time.

Hire a boat during the day or get a night taxi to kalami and catch the boat round to Agni for Nikolas. The other two tavernas are not a patch on Nikolas. For a lovely day out get a bus from kassiopii square, get off at kaloura or kalami, get on the coastal path , walk through kalami, past the Durrells house, carry on past the next small beautiful bay ( gialiskari), through the woods, still on the path till it spills onto Agni Beach. Pericles place is at the end, google "Nikolas Taverna Agni", we stumbled on it 20 odd years ago and its the measure of any greek bay or Taverna we visit . Its a MUST.

Living in the country: expensive but worth it even if it is later in life for me.

Buying a Blokart, a fold up sand yacht that I’ve had 34 mph out of on Coatham beach. Still brilliant fun even after owning it for 15 years.

Retirement jukebox: I thought I had maybe been frivolous purchasing it (in 2015). But I still get a buzz out of changing the records regularly and typing out the title strips. It continues to wow folk when they come round for a drink. Looking forward to putting the Christmas singles on it in four weeks’ time.
The jukebox looked brilliant when I visited you, so envious.

Jez Lowe on Sunday night in Whitley Bay. Tiny wee gig (about 12 people) but he was - and always is - brilliant.

Another one for Northumberland.

And we spent September touring Scotland in our motorhome and everywhere was stunning. The West coast and the Highlands never fail to deliver.

Angkor Wat

Chicago

That first beer on a Friday night after a hard week at work

The Lake District

Warbutons Toastie bread (toasted of course)

Venice - apart from St Marks Square and the couple of streets around it that are overrun with cruise ship day trippers, that whole city is so precious and jaw-droppingly beautiful that I’m not ashamed to say I shed a little tear when I first saw the Grand Canal.

It’s the first thing you see when you walk out of the train station from the airport, and it’s hard to believe it’s real.
