Places or things that delivered

To counter the other negative ( but mostly very accurate) thread.
What have you done, or where have you been or what did you purchase that " just did it" " just delivered"exactly what you expected.
For me?
Venice. Been in mid summer and mid winter, just wandering for hours and hours , outside tourist the obvious tourist traps, an evening getting lost could not be more pleasurable.

Rome. The centre. Wow. Spent 5 days walking around cappa mundi and woul still go again and do it all again plus all I missed ( ok i understand its a bit messy now)

Sailing around the greek islands.
Did it with nielson, wondefull memories.

An educational ( small ship) cruise around the eastern med ( no bingo just real history, in your face, )

Ikea, bit boring but you get what you pay for, cheap but as good a quality as you could expect for the price.

Rome was fantastic when I went ... much better than I expected and so much to see.

I hear it's not so good if you're an away fan mind.

Grand Canyon National Park
Las Vegas
Northern Lights in Iceland
Chichen Itza
Dortmund game

I’ve re read the original post and all these things delivered more than what I expected, unbelievable places and experiences.

The great Wall of China. I got lucky, I went in a freezing winter which meant it was smog free and empty but wow it looked spectacular

Great white shark diving in South Africa.

This one delivered. Absolutely everything I thought it would be. The only 'complaint' was how cold the South Atlantic is in June 😂

I can't overly moan. I did both of this and my 'disappointment' of the Pyramids whilst in the Navy. So pretty much free. That was back in the days when the Navy actually went places.

Honeymoon in Cancun
Trip to las Vegas

Both incredible experiences.

Corfu (Kassiopi) for a family holiday. Fairly quiet harbour town on the north looking across to Albania. Just brilliant. Some lovely bars and restaurants and incredible food. Loved it so much we've been 3 times and intend to go next year. Finding somewhere the kids love going to for a holiday is a result IMO.

Living in the country: expensive but worth it even if it is later in life for me.

Buying a Blokart, a fold up sand yacht that I’ve had 34 mph out of on Coatham beach. Still brilliant fun even after owning it for 15 years.

Retirement jukebox: I thought I had maybe been frivolous purchasing it (in 2015). But I still get a buzz out of changing the records regularly and typing out the title strips. It continues to wow folk when they come round for a drink. Looking forward to putting the Christmas singles on it in four weeks’ time.

Cancún I'd agree with. I didn't think I'd like it but it was superb

Thought I'd hate LA, but once I got my bearings I loved it.

If most cities are like a fried egg, with all the good stuff near the middle, LA is scrambled - with good bits all over, some in the most unexpected places.

I misread that as 'did it with Nelson'. I know FMTTM hasn't got the youngest demographics, but that would definitely take first prize in the oldies stakes.
