Perfect storm coming for Boro….

Behave.
I didn’t dislike payero but he played 13 times. People going on like we need to replace Kante.
Tav, I liked the lad but he wanted out. We haven’t replaced like for like but McGree and mowatt in for Tav and payero isn’t the end of the world.
People are going on like Tav was juninho. He was here for years and never even had a song.

I see a great month coming up. Regardless of what people say, we have a massive derby match on Monday. The atmosphere will be great. We then go to Blackpool on Saturday. We’ve been waiting for a Saturday game there since the tower was built. Over 3000 boro will make for a great day out.
Then 2 decent home games.
A few players are going to have to up their games, paddy for one. Fry will get more time and look like the defender he is. I think muniz will go on a decent streak.
Still plenty of positives.

If lose on Monday our bed wetting fans will turn on the manager and players, Jones the most likely .scape goat

Disappointed with the end of the window, not getting at least midfield cover. The last few games it has been obvious that fresh legs in midfield have been needed in the second half but we have not been able to do it. Saying that, if the team are winning, then midfield is ok. Last season Payero could not get into the team as Howson, Crooks and Tav were regulars. Need Mowatt, Hackney and Boyd Munce to step up their performances.

Firstly, Payero never played, so that is irrelevant.

Secondly, Tavernier was one of the biggest scapegoats in the starting 11 and missed a LOT more chances than his scored. He had a great work rate which coincidently improved under Wilder.

Let Wilder coach the players and find the right formula. It was only January that Howson was the Yorkshire Pirlo and Matt Crooks could do no wrong. Muniz will score goals and I believe that we'll be a lot stronger towards the second half of the season, than the start.

We'll beat the Mackems but it's the next four months that worry me, suspensions and injuries are bound to feature and we don't have the squad to cover them.

One plus point is Wilder maybe forced to blood some of the youngsters. I'd love to see Joe Gibson given a chance.

I think the early part of the window was really encouraging. The goalkeeping issue was broadly sorted, Giles is a terrific signing and Lenihan's leadership and nous is needed. But the forwards is a bit of a puzzler. Hoppe is clearly not in CW's plan a or b (and probably c!), Forss is being used by CW to send a message I reckon.
Muniz - very early days but terrific start.
Akpom: all of a sudden he's part of the answer. In that case I struggle to understand the question!

Midfield - ok Payero left, no big deal but Tav leaving and not being replaced has left us short and unbalanced in the crucial area of the park. Only my opinion but I think Dijksteel could do the def mid role - he has most of the attributes needed.

All in all, disappointing not to address some areas and I do think it will bite us hard but a few crucial and winnable games coming up.

It will be very interesting to see CW at tomorrow's presser - body language etc.

It's the psychology of the transfer window that's the problem. Being credibly linked with seemingly exciting youngish forwards sets up an expectation. Even though none of us know anything really about Larsen, there's a disappointment about not getting him. It's anticlimactic. But in the cold light of day, we've done pretty well in this window, and we're already scoring more goals than last year, and apart from QPR first half, playing some great football. I'm crossing my fingers that Clarke can help solve the terrible goals against record, along with Steffen, if only he could wake up a little bit. Seems more important to him to look calm, cool and collected than to avoid danger. I hope he proves me wrong
The big problem, as you say, is midfield. Against QPR in particular, the midfield looked one paced and predictable. Whenever we are aggressively pressed, we cant seem to deal with it. I'm underwhelmed by McGree as a midfielder. He's busy and neat, a poor man's Adam Forshaw without the penetration. He's much better playing further forward where his lack of a tackle is less of a drawback. I agree about Dyksteel. If Wilder doesnt fancy him as a defender, he must play in midfield for a bit of energy, aggression and pace, imo. He's decent in terms of touch and passing as well. With the current dearth of central midfielders, it must be worth seeing whether he could be a poundshop Kante in the Championship.
Looking forward, with some trepidation, to Monday and the rest of the season.

this situation is not even a footnote in the mfc narrative. We're heading for a top 10 finish, for sure. 39 games to play.
I'd be thinking different if only 7 games to go. Can only get better.
