In the six years since they got their Brexit the Conservatives have gone through David Cameron, Theresa May and Boris Johnson as Prime Ministers and in terms of Brexit negotiators they've had David Davis - insisted on unicorns - resigned, Dominic Raab - insisted on unicorns - resigned, Stephen Barclay - insisted on unicorns - voted against own motion - resigned, David Frost - insisted on unicorns - resigned and now Liz Truss who is insisting on unicorns. We have created a Minister for Brexit Opportunities who so far hasn't found any. We have a Northern Ireland Assembly paralysed and unable to function because of the Brexit deal.
The only way they seem to be able to think of to get Brexit to function the way they thought it would, the way they promised, the way they believed (but were warned it couldn't), is to break the law. To break agreements we signed up to. To actually legislate to break the law.
You'd think this would be a clue to everyone that Brexit was a stupid idea, but no, still there are people who voted for it who think it's not Brexit that is stupid, just the people implementing it. The people who led the campaigns advocating it. Who they listened to.
