Our best XI now

Azaz it's way too early to say he goes in our best 11. He might, but currently I think he's benefitting from being a shiny new signing in some people's picks.
I think it's more based on his form at Plymouth.
He got himself in some good positions against Rotherham, granted he should have got a goal but he made good runs and ended up with 2 really good chances. If he keeps doing that, he'll get goals.

I think he'll be excellent, looks a really exciting player. And he might well be in our best 11 already, but for me, too early to say as he's only done it in league 1 so far. Particularly when we have others who are currently more proven.

He is not good enough tbh

I know sometimes this can be slightly correlation rather than causation, but the statistics for when Coburn plays against when he doesnt are remarkable.
Something like 10 wins in the 14 games he's played more than 40 minutes in. Without him our form is atrocious!
I'll be honest as an amateur fan I struggle to see exactly why but he seems to have been really important to us this year.

Because Coburn holds the ball up better than anyone else in the team and brings the 3 players behind him into possession higher up the pitch. He helps us to keep possession in the final 3rd better than Lath, Greenwood or Rogers can.

Although Lath has a bit of explosive pace and has that ability to get in behind that fans crave, his ball retention is pretty poor.

Also, Coburn v Lath goalscoring rate is almost identical.

Coburn - 5 in 982 Minutes played = 0.46/90 Mins
Lath - 5 in 966 Minutes played = 0.47/90 Mins

Mcgree also had 0.45 goals/90 mins played

Forss has the best in the squad although a small sample. 4 goals in 422 minutes played which is 0.85 goals/90 mins played

Some very strange choices, by what I presume are visually impaired armchair supports.

Correct answer is:
-------------Dieng----------

Ayling---Fry-----VDB---Thomas

-----Hackney---O'Brien-------

Forss-------Azaz------McGree

------------Lath-------------

Lath, Forss and Mcgree have our best goals per minute ratio, need all three in the team.

Not going to check the rest of your post but Lath manages a goal every 187 mins where as Coburn gets one every 226.

This is true but Coburn has been overperforming (which isn't a bad thing)

I think there is a real chance that with an injury free spell to the end of the season Lath could get quite a few goals

I probably gave the impression I was saying I didn't think Coburn was very good, I'm actually a big fan of his. What I kind of meant was he does a lot of positive things ordinary fans like me don't notice or realise.

It would be interesting to see what happens to the xG of the 3 players behind the striker when Coburn plays v Lath. I would bet that it increases therefore improving the performance of the team as a whole.

Coburn brings players into play very much like mark hughes did for man utd and improves the team as a whole. His importance to the team is massive. Saying all that I actually think coburn is far more likely to improve his goal ratio with experience than latte.

The plan of playing Coburn for 70 minutes to bully defenders then unleash Lath's pace onto them is a very sound idea
You could say that the other way would work the same. Use LL pace to drag CB’s all over and then unleash Coburn’s physicality on them late.
