Oh god, “STOP THE BOATS” is their slogan

I brought Labour into it because atypical said he thinks bringing this issue into the mainstream or fighting an election on it would blow up in the Tories’ faces. My reply is that I don’t really think it will, because to my mind the opposition are quite happy to go along with quite a lot of what the Tories are saying about these “small boats” instead of just calling it out in straight terms.

So the reason I referenced them, Labour, and him, Starmer, is because the two major parties will spend the coming weeks and months debating this issue while everything else is up in flames.

We will see about Starmer. You seem to like him. I think he’ll win the next election. Will he be any better than Sunak? Yes. I just don’t think he will do what needs to be done. This country is in ruins. But I can only go off what I see and hear from him and I just don’t see him delivering the structural change we need, dealing with wealth redistribution. Let’s see.

So, there you go. I brought him into it because it was relevant IMO. That’s what happens when a group of people are chatting and pushing a conversation along. Things crop up. We’ve had Farage as well. And Murdoch. Starmer is the Leader of the Opposition. You could bring anyone from the political sphere into it. That’s kind of how it works on a message board.

So I'd like to know where, you got the notion

61 posts about what not to do and not one about what we can do.
How can we cope with an influx the size of a City as big as Newcastle every 5 years (news night journo).
What's the answer ? ( and I know it's not sending people to Rawanda).

Germany would be a good starting point, in terms of studying how they work with it.

I believe, I'm open to being corrected. That they have invested - at great cost - into having a processing network through which refugees are housed in a variety of areas rather than being dumped into the cheapest housing available in whichever place the council needs the government funding that is dangled in front of them for taking more refugees/migrants.

The refugees/migrants have to show increased proficiency in German, find gainful employment and other forms of integration.

Many of them, having integrated at least somewhat go on to adopt Germany as their nation and enjoy the quality of life afforded to them, contributing to the economy and solving Germany's demographic/labor issues.

Unfortunately due to the shambolic state of the nation, I don't see how it's feasible for us.

Our housing system is different and people don't want refugees moving into their nice middle class areas.
Our local government funding is different so the distribution of people won't work similarly.
We'd sooner throw money at private companies who have iron clad contracts with the government to ensure they can't make a loss while already British people fight for fair terms of employment.

There's also some studies, only modelling of course, on the cost of redirecting the amount of money we have to spend on refugees into supporting causes in the countries they come from. But then foreign aid is now the enemy too isn't it.

What a mess.

Chilling?

The Tories don't own the Union Flag you know.

4 women, 2 men.

You're obviously ignoring Angela Rayner's upbringing and circumstances.

The Tories have been in power for 13 years.

They got Brexit done and took back control of our borders. Can't blame the EU now.

Everything that's happening now is because of them, not despite them.

Even if I were a virulent racist who wanted to stop small boats above all else, why would I believe this party were capable of delivering this?
No no no…..their message is going to be much more shameful and sinister than this because they are determined to paint labour as The party who’ll ‘let them all in’. Even though it’s the tories who have done this they are going for the thick red wall racist vote
Trumpesque….

This whole thing is being set up for another showdown with the judicial system.

A nice, long drawn out process that takes us up to the election and delivers the bogeyman which the Tories always need.

Their whole polling strategy is based upon the unknowledgeable know it all who sits in the pub, arms folded, huffing and puffing about news events by regurgitating fifth hand ideas from a tabloid. No actual knowledge whatsoever, but exudes the authoritative air of an Oxford fellow.
